The Pee-wee Herman Show is not a musical.

I don't think either version of Bonnie and Clyde has any plans for Broadway yet, at least not for this season.

Leap of Faith may not be until next season depending on theater availability and/or Rob Ashford's schedule (specifically, his commitments to How to Succeed)

The Book of Morman and Catch Me If You Can are not official yet, but seem very likely to happen. The rest of course have all been confirmed, so it looks like 10 new musicals for the 2010-11 season on Broadway.

Bonnie & Clyde announced it was Broadway-bound when they announced the Sarasota run, but obviously then Wonderland made the definite plans to open this season, so I have my doubts about it. Who knows, wouldn't surprise me if Frank tried to do another hat trick though.

Is Love Never Dies officially off or are we still assuming?

RAIN, ANYTHING GOES, and HOW TO SUCCEED are also musicals coming in.

It's doubtful that GODSPELL will make it in this Spring, but that should be on the radar now, too. I can't believe they're still trying to revive it. Crazier things have happened. But again, very doubtful that we will get that this season.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

In the next month, sadly, we will hear of a few more closings, and then of course, the big ax falls in Jan. opening more for the spring shows.

What about the Zorba revival?

"If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn't help the poor, either we have to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we've got to acknowledge that He commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition and then admit that we just don't want to do it." -Stephen Colbert

Is this a normal amount of new musicals opening? It seems exorbitant for one season, like some should wait for next year!

RJM -- it is rather extensive, but they won't all make it -- some just postponed and some into b'way dream heaven. Yank! has already been postponed to next fall.

sooo...... NEW musicals coming this season are:

BBAJ - Jacobs
Scottsboro Boys - Lyceum
Women on the Verge – Belasco
ELF - Hirschfeld
Spiderman - Foxwoods
Priscilla - Palace
Book of Mormon - O'Neill
Catch me - Neil Simon
Wonderland - Marquis
Sister Act - Broadway

thats 10 so far. That's quite a few, right? and isn't RAIN considered a new musical because there is no longer the "special performance" category(or whatever it was called).

WHAT A SEASON, ummm-YAY! I've already seen (and thoroughly enjoyed) Bloody Andrew Jackson and Scottsboro Boys and Divine Sister off-Broadway. Tomorrow I have Women on the Verge. Next month I'm looking forward to Mrs Warrens Profession, Brief Encounter and the Bernstein Tribute at Lincoln Center, Spiderman in December, The Schwartz Tribute in April and his opera Seance on a Wet Afternoon followed by Anything Goes. I have yet to get my tickets for Priscilla, Book of Mormon and Wonderland. So much to look forward too!
