I guess the revival of "Into the Woods" was a flop, but I loved it more than I could possibly say.
i saw "suessical", it wasn't all that bad, though sometimes riddiculous when it didn't intend to be.
I think I have seen a lot (some I liked, some not); these immediately spring to mind (with the criteria of non-recooping):
"Dance of the Vampires"
"Taboo"
"Thou Shall Not"
"Big"
"The Civil War"
"Nick and Nora"
"What's Wrong With This Picture"
"The Capeman"
"Cyrano: The Musical"
"Never Gonna Dance"
"Saturday Night Fever"
"Footloose"
"A Class Act"
"Into The Woods" revival
"Man of La Mancha" revival
"Jekyll and Hyde"
"The Scarlet Pimpernel"
"Sunset Blvd" (my personal favorite)
"Aspects of Love" (the first show I saw on Broadway)
"The Life"
"Five Guys Named Moe"
"La Boheme"
"Jane Eyre"
"Seussical"
"Squonk"
"Steel Pier"
"On The Town"
"By Jeeves" (much better in London)
"The Wild Party" (liked OB better)
"Urban Cowboy"
"The Green Bird"
"Taller Than A Dwarf"
And others too I believe.
Jim,
That Icon. Must you really?
Is it that bad? (it is me, so please be gentle)
Taboo (which I loved, hence the icon)
Urban Cowboy... I think with another 2 months of working that show could have been a decent show
As for those who are posting that productions such as Assassins (either productin) or any other limited engagement production as being a flop. They are limited engagements and therefore are not flops.
Legs Diamond.
Bring Back Birdie.
The Five O'Clock Girl.
[apologies if I responded to this previously -- I didn't feel like going back through all the pages of posts.]

And if you include shows that never made it to broadway:
Martin Guerre and Notre Dame de Paris..two of the worst shows I ever saw

I liked "Martin Guerre" (saw the original London production). The show I saw in London that I hated was "La Cava."
Unfortunately, Notre Dame de Paris did well in London. I had the misfortune of seeing it as well. Definitely one of the worst shows I've ever seen.
Jim,
It's not that it is bad. it isn't at all. I did not mean it that way.
Seussical
Urban Cowboy
La Chiusa's The Wild Party
What did everyone think of "A CLass Act"?

Seussical.
It was a good conceot that was SADLY SADLY misgiuded and driven in the wrong direction... and the Weisslers were a HUGE reason.... GREASE anyone??
only if you are referring (and I know you are) the stunt cast revival with about 1000 different recordings...although it did have Megan Mullally in it, so there was a small beacon of hope and talent...

A Class Act --
I found Lonny Price grating and insufferable as Kleban (I heard that Danny Burstein, his understudy, was infinitely better, but Price was on a huge ego trip with that show -- which is why half the cast dropped out of the show before it came to Broadway). However, the score was gorgeous and Julia Murney, Randy Graff and Carolee Carmello were outstanding in the MTC production.
Margo
Fortunatly I saw Danny and he ws quite good -- I too enjoyed the show and thought the ensemble was terrific.
The revival of Grease, which I saw when Lucy Lawless (Xena, anyone?) was in it, actually also had a then unknown Hunter Foster, and Jen Cody in it. However, to this day I consider it one of the worst productions of a show I've ever had to sit through.
Who on earth considered Ragtime a flop??? I thought that was show was so wonderful and the only reason it closed was because of Garth Drabinsky and his money issues and the fact that The Lion King won everything that year and Ragtime did not get to announce to the world that it was a Tony winner.
I never would have guessed that Ragtime was a flop. I saw it twice and thought it was outstanding both times.
Ragtime is in NO WAY a flop...I still get chills thinking about Audra and BSM singing "wheels of a dream" and Marrin Mazzie' "back to before"....
The revival of Grease was not a flop, either. It ran for over three years.
I have seen a number of fabulous flops , the ones I'm proud to say I saw are:
Moose Murders - It had only 13 previews , 1 performance
The Little Prince - 16 previews, It was so bad it never opened.
Harold and Maude - 21 previews , 4 performances
Bring Back Birdie - 31 previews, 4 performances
Frankenstein - 29 previews, 1 performance
Just to name a few
