Oldest Living Confederate...and yes, I stayed for the second act, unlike most people I know...
Urban Cowboy - saw it three times, including last performance. I actually liked it!
Taboo - ten times, including London. 'Nuff said.

Thou Shalt Not. The original Assassins off broadway.
I had tickets to both The Wild Party and Side Show when they were dropped. Darn!
It may sound interesting and it may have a lot of potential but they didn't use any of it.

"Rose, all that you say is true, but there was so much more. The plastic sheet between the kids at the prom and the audience was actually kind of cool because they shot orange light up the plastic and the kids were banging on it as the gym caught fire. It was kind of harrowing, actually."
I didn't know that. "Not Since Carrie" made it sound like they just dropped a shower curtain on top of the cast to make it look like the roof caved in. I wish I could have been old enough to see it (I was three at the time. Probably wouldn't have gone over so well, hmm? :) ).
And I agree about the music for Carrie and her mom. Amazing how a single show could have the most beautiful and heinous music all in one package, eh?
Was the last incarnation of SHOWBOAT a hit or miss?

"Showboat" was a pretty decent-sized hit, running nearly 1000 performances.
I guess I was just tired that night. Thanks again Miss Channing and my best to Thelma, oopps, Birdie.
I saw Man of La Mancha on broadway. I really enjoyed it. I loved trhe story and I thought it was a good production. I'm not sure how long it ran though. I know it wasn't long. Wasn't the best musical but it was worth the ticket price.

Saw big the kid in "i wanna go home" completely cracked and that is when i realized i could make it at some point. I mean it was entertainin but def. a flop. I did a show called when shakespeare's gentlemen get together and it is paired with n shakespeares ladies meet. AWFUL

Glebb,
It certainly wasn't Prince's best work even though it won a slate of Tonys, including Best Revival and his 20th, for the direction (a bit overblown if you ask me), but I loved the score, the sets and costumes, Gretha Boston as Queenie (another Tony winner), Michel Bell as Joe and Lonette McKee as Julie (Stritch was wasted as Parthy) -- the rest was just, eh? But, that may just be a 70 year old landmark musical starting to show its age a bit.
Margo - as always thanks for setting the record straight, DAME EDNA was a roaring success. Funny, isn't even the word for it. Can't wait for the new one in the fall.
BTW: I also saw THOU SHALT NOT, with Tom Brokaw in the audience - who during intermission was overheard on a cell phone saying that it was "terrible." To me that was an understatement...
Man of LaMancha, the revival, I keep forgetting was a flop because I really loved it.
Dear Miss Channing:
You make so much sense. I love the music too.
Could one say the 70 year old landmark is aged in wood?
Your devoted fan,
Glebb

Well I guess its all about perspective. I mean, Taboo ran 100 performances and was a flop, but Assassins ran 93 and was a success. You can't really use number of performances to determine a success v flop.
I saw Sweet Smell of Success...i think that was a flop. Would anyone consider LSOH a flop?
I saw THE CIVIL WAR. The best show to hit Broadway ever!

bythesword84, I completey agree it's perspective.
Assassins could be considered a massive success.
And in my mind, so is Taboo.
I know there's a large following, I included, and I saw that show many times so even if it closed, it meant something to each person who loved it and we're still big fans!
So here's to Taboo never being a flop! *raises glasS*
