hey all,
i'm just wondering when everyone will think n2n will be closing. do you think it's doing well. do you think it will ever be revived?
It will close when it stops making a profit. No one could really say since it's made back its investment and has been doing steady business. Massofmen might be able to help, though.

I think it's alright...for now. It's one of my favorite shows but I think hopefully tourist season (even though it's definately not a very "tourist-y" show) might pick it up, and then I think it will carry on for a few more months ,and then it might hit some trouble. Depending on future casting choices, I think it COULD be the next Spring Awakening - hitting the 2 year mark and then closing. Don't quote me on this though..I'm pretty dumb - and possibly a little too hopeful.

Do you think Next to Normal is in danger of closing before October?
Next to Normal will be open for at least the rest of the year, if not through next summer, at least. it has such a low running cost and it already recouped.

"do you think it will ever be revived?"
Kind of jumping the gun there, aren't you? Can we please let a show close before we start worrying about future revivals?
I'm sure they were just asking for people's opinions about it, AEA AGMA SM.
And wdwfreak reminded me of something I forgot about - it recouped, which keeps it very safe. Unless the Booth Theatre burns down I can pretty much guarantee it will be there in October.

Not true at all, meggily. If it falls below its break-even point for two weeks running (and I've heard in some cases, one), the theater can invoke the stop clause and throw them out at any time after that. In this case, I doubt they will, but they definitely can. I wouldn't throw around those guarantees quite so freely.
ghostlight2 - that's why I said "pretty much". I always say "don't quote me on that" when I share my opinions, and I should really put it after every post, lol.
I'm not too informed on theatre finances, and all that jazz - I don't think it wall fall below "that point", especially over the summer. Hopefully now that it's not so new it will have a stronger tourist draw, and I predict it will get itself through at least October. Then again, don't quote me on that. Although, now that I think about the phrase, if I type/say it then you actually CAN quote me on it but...whatever.
I see it lasting at least until the end of the year. It's already recouped & is very cheap to run.
I have to start with the fact that I love this show, immensely. Then I have to state: I don't think it will make it past Columbus Day. It is available on TDF nearly every day (which, for those of you that don't know, brings the cost of a ticket to approx 35 bucks) and quite a bit in advance. . I believe the cast change will cause sales to drop lower...something I think we will see as the begining of a trend....a large number of fans are fans of the actor and stage door. The advance can't be strong, and come late summer they will logically choose to close.
