Wow... Anyway, Scarlet Strallen is who will actually be playing Mary Poppins.

That article from playbill is for the replacement London cast, not the Broadway cast. Scarlett Strallen is Mary Poppins in London.

If I were you guys I would be petitioning the producers not to make the show all sugary and light, they plan on taking out any of the darker elements which make it a delight here in London.

Sorry, my bad. Guess I read that too quickly. Thanks for the new info though.

Hopefully Laura Michelle Kelly, but since I hear she has hit a spat with the show's creative team, it is in doubt...
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

I'm dreaming again, but wouldn't Elaine Stritch be the ultimate choice for "Mary Poppins"? Even when first seeing the film as a child, I knew that although Dame Julie was excellent, It was sadly miscast, this role just screams "STRITCH". (LOL!)

Definitely won't be Laura Michelle Kelly. They wanted her to continue in the role in London until rehearsals started for Broadway but she didn't want to do it that way, which is where the falling out occurred.
Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

Anyone else vote for Ashley Brown? I hope they'll consider her.

The only problem with Cheno is you want somebody that is actually taller then the 7 year old playing Michael Banks.

Oh, geez, I got worried when you said Scarlett Strallen was doing the Broadway production. I just watched it last night, and while she wasn't bad, she wasn't the kind of knockout performer you need for an Opening night cast. The inevitable comparisons to Julie Andrews wouldn't have ended well.
Anyway, aren't they going to use an American for this? I know this is Cameron Mackintosh we're talking about, but why start a spat with Equity?

I can really see Erin Dilly in the role.

I'd love an Erin/Raul reunion, BUT, he probably would be more likely to give the happy a rest for a while. And the shows are kind of similar.

now i've heard rumors, and yes i'm saying rumors, i have no credible articles or links or whatever, simply word of mouth, but there are rumors that kate winslet and the producers want her to make a broadway debut with this show since laura michelle won't be bringing it across the pond.
one can only pray that these rumors have a grain of truth in them.

Yes, Reidel wrote that they are trying to get a name to open the show. He mentioned Kate Winslet, Julianne Moore, and Jennifer Garner as the three ladies they're going after.
I also think Erin Dilly would be just wonderful in the role.
Winslet (and even Garner) are fine choices.

I heard that Mindy Cohn from "The Facts of Life" has the role locked up.

I hope they get a Brit to originate the role. Kate Winslet sounds very cool.

Here's a role that has Loretta Swit's name written all over it.
