We have wonderful examples as to why many of the members of this board dislike the Wicked POSTERS. Notice, POSTERS..not the SHOW.
Wickedlover is a wonderful example of why Wicked POSTERS are annoying. They say one thing to get a reaction and then retract it. And we are to believe that this is a mature way to hold an educated discussion of Wicked?
Popcultureboy hit it right on the head. Your inane, ridiculous posts that regard the show Wicked are what generate the dislike of this board.
And when you have children like blondiechloe who immediately becomes TickTickBam (really honey..a blind Jessica Fletcher could see it), you're credibility as posters are diminished.
Talk all you want about Wicked. If it's a serious, well thought question, you will not get these remarks. However, if continued posts on the same topic ("Who'll Replace Idina"..a post we see every week) and/or inane questions, then you must be mature enough to accept the barbs. And please save your "any posts are not inane" comments that you feel the immediate need to post. You know what's ridiculous.
You are free to exercise your right to free speech. And, in return, so are we. Most of us are serious theater fans who wish to discuss serious theater-related items.
Think before you post or don't complain.

"Perhaps there are too many obsessed Wicked fans, but maybe that is the only show they've been fortunate enough to see."
This is a very good point. With theatre tickets so expensive, you can't just go see whatever ones you feel like it. It's a huge deal for me to get to see a broadway show and probably for a lot of other people as well.

Posted: 9/4/04 at 5:13pmThere is a major misconception that those of us who complain about the Wicked threads or use sarcasm about them are "Wicked Bashers". I, for one, liked Wicked a lot but I'm sick and tired of seeing the first 20 threads on this board revolving around Wicked and Wicked only. Also, they are threads that come up every two days. Please use the search feature before creating a new thread to see if there is an already existing thread (or 5) about the same topic. I'm truly glad to see that there are so many excited young new posters interested in theatre but try and immerse yourself in the rest of Musical Theatre and try not to saturate the boards withnothing but Wicked. Thank you.

See this is what I don't understand. The Wicked threads are not causing the deleting of any other threads...who CARES if they're there? Don't read them! Click the little tiny button for "page 2" if your show isn't being discussed on page 1 at the moment. Good grief.

So I've stayed out of this argument for a long while, but I feel like it's time to pipe up, and try to live up to my name, so here goes....
I'll do this in twosections:
To everyone, so you know where I'm coming from:
Hello! I have been a member of this board for a little while now, and have enjoyed reading and posting on many threads, ranging from off-topic to on, and handing out audition advice. I am fortunate enough to have seen a number of broadway shows considering my age, and where I live, and last year I did, in fact see Wicked. My personal thoughts on Wicked are as follows: I had a really great time in the Gershwin, and I still listen to the OBCR. I really enjoyed the show: it's not the second coming, for me, but it was a night of fun entertainment. I also, however recognize, that the most recent show I've seen tends to be the one I get attatched to, then I see another one, and I'll listen to it for a while, and so on...So I believe I come from a relatively safe place to say what I'm going to say.
To the fighters (both sides):
Wicked 'lovers, good for you, I'm glad you have discovered a passion for theater, in this form, or have just really enjoyed your experience at the Gershwin. It's important for you to keep seeing show, but it's great if you've found one that you can really identify with, or just love. However some people don't like the show, and, more-importantly, some people hate to see the show consuming an all-encompasing broadway message board, as you have obviously seen by some of the not so subtle disdain showed for both posters and the show in posts such as this one. Here's where I try to help...
People who are getting/are sick of all of the Wicked posts--I'm not going to lie and say that I don't find your posts amusing. I have myself been described as both sarcastic and bitchy, both of which I often hold among my best praises. I also realize that no matter what I say, it is not my decision to say whatanyone can or can't do. But here's what I will say. It's not as if space for other threads is going to run out because of the Wicked threads, and as many have said, you can just skip over them. But another thing to consider, is the fact that if you want to see more non-wicked threads, create them! You can't rely on everyone else to do something, and then complain about their topic of choice. For many of you that doesn't apply, and you have been doing well getting your own posts up, but if you want the ratio of Wicked to NonWicked threads to go down, it seems the only way to do that in the near future would be to start bringing up interesting old posts, or creating new ones. To the Wicked 'lovers'-Try an understand where the otheres are coming from. I'm not saying they're right, because you shouldn't let them get to you, but if you have a wicked quiestion/ topic to discuss, see if you can pin it to another thread already established. Not necessarily the All-Wicked thread, but search the boards, and I think you'll be surprised to see what you can find. Also, if Wicked 'bashers' (as they are now being referred to) are really getting to you, just ignore the posts, skip over them, I even think there's a way you can block certain posters. In the same way that Wicked 'bashers' can skip over the Wicked thread altogether, you can skip over their responses, and just keep going.
I hope that's everything I wanted to say...I doubt it makes sense, but I'll shall read over it and see.

Ok...I have to agree with Mattio98....look through the threads before crating a new one. I also have seen the same conversation going on in more than one Wicked thread. (And even threads that are not supposed to be about Wicked)
Voice...well put!

Look at my member name. I liked the show. I enjoyed it.
Now, you idiot members who posts your ridiculous posts have made me ashmed to be associated with the show.
Do we need 10 threads on this topic? NO
And OhSoWicked..you're so wrong. By posting the idiotic Wicked threads, you push down threads that...get this....actually have something important to discuss.
Do you need to stop posting Wicked threads? NO.
Do you need to learn what's important to make threads about? YES
Do we need 10 threads about Wicked? NO
I know this isn't going to stop you folks here. But get a clue as to why you're make people angry on this board. It's for a reason.

Posted: 9/4/04 at 9:53pmI think the point where fans of Wicked tend to get on people's nerves are when you hear things 'OMG I WAS IN THE GROCERY STORE AND THEY WERE LIKE GREEN AND PINK FOOD TOGETHER I THOUGHT OF WICKED, AHHHHH!!!11' And yes, I see many people saying things similar to this, not just on this board. It gets to be tiresome.
