Posted: 10/29/04 at 11:54amI hate when they do this song at performances....they chop it up so badly and it sounds. so. BORING. *sigh* Interview was really cute though.

Posted: 10/29/04 at 11:55amWell, not the best performance of theirs that I have heard, and I hate how they cut the song down, but it was fun to see. I do NOT like Idina's green lipgloss.

Okay, Idina has had three chances to impress me now. She has screwed them all up. She doesn't even know how to breathe, let alone sing.
JLT is wonderful, though.

Was the number abbreivated, and Idina almost forgot to jump ahead? She slid on one word.
Anyway, Thompson is effective, in some ways emotionally fuller, more womanly, than the ever-cupie Chenoweth.

Posted: 10/29/04 at 11:57ami think her breathiness adds to the character, but does anyone know if she smokes?? I think she is wonderful and will look forward to seeing her as Maureen again in the RENT movie.

Posted: 10/29/04 at 11:57amElphie, she's never "topnotch." And there's always an excuse. I've tried and tried to give her the benefit of the doubt - I WANT to like her. But that's it now.

Posted: 10/29/04 at 11:57amShe does not smoke or drink. They should have let Elisabeth be Glinda and put Star in the house. Updated On: 10/29/04 at 11:57 AM

Posted: 10/29/04 at 11:58amIdina sounds sick. JLT is such a delight. They did this better at Broadway on Broadway.

the interview was adorable; idina is so giddy over mr. taye, it's beautiful... they looked great and they seem really happy, which is important.
however, i wish they hadn't done that song or i wish they'd done the whole thing instead of cutting it because the part they cut out is my favorite part and, in my opinion, the best part of the song.
i wish they would have done "defying gravity", however i know it would have been hard since they can't exactly fly idina in that space, but i think it would have been a better choice.
but, they sounded great together; i hope i get the chance to see it soon!

Posted: 10/29/04 at 12:02pmAnd doesnt For Good kind of give away the ending...I mean everyone knows they end up being friends...but why do they insist on performing the last song in the show before the finale. Stupid, if you ask me. I want them to do What Is This Feeling at least once!!

I have to say that both times I sat through the show, Idina was marvelous. As was Chenoweth.
I ALWAYS think tv performances are pretty terrible.
I remember seeing GETTING MARRIED TODAY done on Rosie O'Donnell by the cast of PUTTING IT TOGETHER and thought, 'My GOD, this is horrible. How is this Carol Burnett???'
Then I saw the show and it was smashing.

fyi...idina is VERY sick...bronchitis...and considering that, I was really pleased with how she did.
JLT is, of course, significantly better actress than KC.
anyway, those are my immediate impressions after the performance.

Posted: 10/29/04 at 12:07pmShe talked fine, she sang fine, and she didn't cough during the interview nor the song. Why is it that every time she's on TV and someone criticizes her singing, we hear that she's "sick"? And you don't breathe from your chest just because you're sick. If you breathe that way, you always breathe that way. If she was breathing correctly, it wouldn't matter if she were sick or not. She wouldn't be gasping like that.

Posted: 10/29/04 at 12:07pmDid it bother anyone that Taye said Idina winning the Tony was the happiest moment of his life? How shallow. Says to me these two are more interested in their careers than in each thier life together. I would think his wedding would be a happier moment than his wife winning an award.

Posted: 10/29/04 at 12:14pmI actually thought it was sweet too, OhSoWicked. I liked her a lot when she was talking. It's her performance that turned me off (again).

Rath,
Having seen her live in Rent and Wicked, I must say that I've never really been bothered by her breathing.
I've never even really noticed it...except on tv.

i think on stage it's just less obvious (particularly in that cavern known as the Gershwin).
Up close and personal on the screen, it just seems odd.

Posted: 10/29/04 at 12:26pmInteresting. I don't like her voice either though - now that I've seen Thompson and been very impressed, I really wish I could have gone last week to see her and Bean.
