Jim - I think the video you are speaking of is just a teaser wedged into a webcast (all that I found). Did you want to post a link to the full video on their site if it's there?
I am going to watch the Nighline video later and do a little research ...to find out their e-mail posting for comments..
that's very unprofessional of her to say that....The show has not even open yet and even critics wont say something like that... I DEMAND an apology from her to the Cast members (some people got injured doing this show) and to the Creative team, bec. its very UNFAIR for them !

I wish I knew how...not savvy with the whole hyperlink thing. I just saw that they had some sort of video on there related to "Xanadu" and assumed it was the whole thing.
The email address is nightline@abcnews.go.com and there's also an comments link from the main page. You do have to sign up for an account on the site to post, however.

Hi All-
I just watched the segment on XANADU on ABC's Nightline . it was nice except for that little "snarky" comment by Cynthia McFadden, though I am wriiting a letter to ABC now.
1. I love how they interviewed Doug Bean , the producer (?- sorry dont know his name ) and Kerry Butler...
2. treat for all Cheyenne's fans bec. he was featured in the black short-short finale number "XANADU" and flexing his arms by playing guitar in "MAGIC " of course in his tank top
3. Footage of "I'm Alive" number with clip of Curtis new Thalia's costume..
4. Footage of "Evil Woman" by Jackie Hoffman & Mary Testa & "Suddenly" by
Kerry & Cheyenne- so funny ! with that and I.......ahhhhhhh.. I ! line.
5. Footage from the movie "XANADU" - I'm Alive & Suddenly
6. For those wonderin' about onstage seating- they shot Kerry's interview next to the onstage seats.
Love it... if not for that "little" snarky comment at the end

and here's the COMMENTS posted on their website...
Cynthia McFadden's closing comment was snarky and unprofessional and only valid if she's actually seen the show. I have and while I agree with Kerry Butler's comment within the report that "It's not Shakespeare," it is a lot of dippy, goofy fun. It may not win Tonys and reviews will undoubtedly be mixed, but it is a blast, especially from the onstage seats, and has already earned a very devoted following even before it's officially opened.

I thought McFaddens comment 'when it closes" was totally uncalled for. I generally am not the kind of person to post messages, but this commen really angered me. She probably didnt see the show. Or if she did, her sense of humor is not sophisticated enough to undertand it. Newsreports...report news. Save the comments for the critics.

Great interview for a great broadway show! From someone who has seen it, this is a fabulous show with terrific music and dancing and very funny lines. The audience absolutley loved it. A must see!

I saw it in the theater when I was a child and I was completely enthralled by it. Of course, now, when I catch the rare rerun of it, I think to myself "Lord, I paid to see this?!" But who doesn't look back on nostalgia with horror from time to time. The music was good, and I am sure they will add to it, update it and embellish it, the same way they did when they translated "Hairspray" from screen to stage. It could very well take off.

I also loved the movie as others have also stated. I loved the pairing of Olivia Newton John and Gene Kelly, two different generation's great artists. I didn't understand and still don't why it is considered such a bad movie. When I go to see a film it isn't for some moral message but for 90 minutes to two hours or more of entertainment, I want to escape in that entertainment; Xanadu did that for me. Mix in the music of Olivia Newton John and the awesome group E.L.O. with the dancing of Gene Kelly, how can you not enjoy it? Anyway, I hope the Broadway musical is as beloved (or more) to this generation as the movie was to those of us of the last generation who did love it!

I did not like the comments made by Cynthia McFadden at the end of this story in regard to "and we'll tell you when this show closes" it insinuated that she thinks the show will indeed close early as it is not a good show. She made an editorial comment to end the story. I personally think the show may just be an amazing success. I sure liked it.

I always loved Xanadu, perhaps it was because I was a kid when I first saw it or the beautiful music just draw me in but that movie is in my favorite list, i never thought that it was consider a big flop, I was surprised for sure. This revival in Broadway makes me feel a little uncomfortable, because they are obviously making fun of it, with some really bad jokes and outfits, I mean, they look as cheap as they come, anyway, I just love Xanadu and I was surprised that it as supposed to be a dud.Katie R.

august860 (the first comment in jaystarr's list) is me:)
Never thought I'd get so defensive about a show but that comment is bogus. Hit them with email and comments and let's see if McFadden has to apologize. Unlikely, but it's good to dream.
May be doing an overnighter in August and I want to see it again--from the stage of course.

Here's additional COMMENTS posted per 4pm... I have not even posted mine yet..oh! some of the remarks here to Cynthia McFadden were OUCH !!!!

The Nightline piece on Xanadu made the show look like a lot of fun. However, Cynthia McFadden's closing comments were insulting and out of line. "Xanadu opens on Broadway tomorrow night. We'll let you know when it closes." Ouch. The show has enough odds against it without a news anchor telling the audience she assumes it will close soon. She needs to apologize on camera.

I saw this movie when i was little. yeah it's campy and the DVd is fun as long as you occassionally jump ahead, but it was, i bleieve, the last time Gene Kelly danced on film. that having been said, the musical could work well, hitting on the happy kitchy notes. McFadden, maybe we'll let you know when you're done. We waited, You're done.

My excitement over the Nightline coverage of Xanadu on Broadway quickly turned to disappointment when Cynthia McFadden commented "... we'll let you know when it closes." Give the show a chance!!! It hasn't even had its official opening and Nightline is already passing judgement on it. I loved it!!! Douglas Carter Beane has worked a miracle with the book. The performances by all of the cast members were exceptional. David Gallo's set was inventive. Every aspect of the production was top notch. It is a brilliant piece of theatre that truly aspires not to be more than a good time. I saw the show on June 30 and had one of the best times ever at a Broadway theater. I was not alone... the rest of the audience was right there with me. A great (not just good) time was had by all!!!

Not to belabor the point, but I just posted another comment on the Nightline site (as august860) stating that "the reviews are in and are by and large very positive. Only two out of 16 reviews tracked by members of Broadwayworld.com were outright pans. Take that, Cynthia."
Hehehe.
I just added to their website:
"What a nasty comment by Cynthia McFadden about when Xanadu closes. I hope she saw the rave reviews today!"
What would you say if she HAD seen it in previews?
I'm so dumb. I KNEW about this and forgot to watch. I was both really tired that night AND excited after having seen the Hairspray movie. I guess I got distracted. if they do post it online, I'd love to have a link!
Broadway Blog: 50 Amazing Broadway Performers in 50 Weekdays AND the link the Advanced Hairspray tickets
The actual segment is hidden behind ABC's "Prime" Video wall. I searched fairly hard for it but ran into the wall, finally. It will cost you a minium of $4.95 (a month's subscription) to view it.
The video I am searching for is CNN's "American Morning" segment. WonderRobbie's Opening Night Video revealed that he was interviewed by their reporter. Can't find any mention of it anywhere, and I stayed up all night to see it (no DVR) and either I fell asleep during the 5am hour and missed it, or it did not run. Anyone see it? Anyone tape it and willing to make a YouTube of it? Thanks in advance.
Me and Robbie were interviewed at the same time for CNN, if you find it, PM me and let me know.

There's an AOL Nightline webcast, but I'm guessing this isn't the original story:

And a couple of broadway.com extras:

And our supersize video right here..

Thanks for those links, I've seen them many, many times! Makes me happy to watch them, you know? Wish I was on the East Coast so I could actually go to the Helen Hayes.
I am still holding out hope that someone saw/taped the CNN segment and will upload it to YouTube or AOL video, or similar.
BroadwayWorld really has been on top of this show, video-wise! Just nice to view the other press as well. I know whoever is working the press had to really "work it" to get such great coverage in Network TV, Print and cable. (BroadwayWorld.com does such a great job, we're spoiled!)

I couldn't get the AOL link to work, but the Nightline video is now up on the site not to be named...
The second I heard that B say that, I thought first, how rude, and secondly, the BWW.comers will be going off if they saw this...
And clips of it on that one site?
Found the Xanadu on Nightline (some kind soul posted it to YouTube)
Here's the link!
