It was a fun little feature.. kind of snarky tag line by the hostess though

Great interview, loved the "I'm Alive" clips.

I HATED what the host said: "Xanadu: The Musical opens tomorrow, right here in NYC, we'll tell you when it closes"

I agree, "We will let you know when it closes." Because the NEW Nightline will have nothing better to report.

I just saw nightline and thought that it was great publicity that the show needed. It really spotlighted what a great show that it is. The only thing that I did not like was Cynthia McFayden's(sp?) comment at the end saying that it opens tomorrow and then she said "we will let you know when it closes." It is negative publicity that,IMO, does not give shows a chance. I think that this is a great show and hopefully plan to see it soon. I hope that it proves people wrong and has a good run on Broadway.

That was a great segment, I loved the Kerry interview, and then that idiot had to ruin it with her comment. Just read the damn teleprompter stupid.

Its not like an opinion piece.

Thats so disrespectful to the familys of those involved, and god forbid the cast and crew who might have been watching.

Was Cynthia McFadden's comment "We'll let you know when it closes" scripted or off the cuff?....very unnecessary...give the show a chance! I can't wait to see it.

Wow. That's stupid and gravely immature of her. Is the video up on 'the-site-that-shall-remain-nameless' yet? I, unfortunately, wasn't able to catch the segment.

So who's writing the nasty note to ABC now?

Because the NEW Nightline will have nothing better to report.

Haha. ZING. It really does suck now, though I admit the rapid-fire non-stories of the new format do sometimes appeal to my primal need for late-night fluff that only makes me think I'm learning.

Haven't gotten to the end of the segment yet.

Just wanted to pause to mention Cheyenne's short shorts make it into the segment...

As to the tag...eh, the whole tone of the piece was "what the hell are they thinking" so it does match, I guess.

As least it's publicity. And it's not like Nightline is real news anymore.

I just finished watching it, what a rude remark to make! I hope this show gets great reviews that they can shove in her face!

Beyond the fact that I was surprised it was even on Nightline, McFadden's comment was completely uncalled for. I am sending an email to ABC if I can find an address through their website.

Sent...go to abcnews.com, click on the Nightline or contact us link and find the contact nightline link from there. Happy emailing.

And guess what the most popular streaming video on the Nightline page is?????

Here's what I wrote:

Just sending a quick note to express my displeasure at Cynthia McFadden's closing comment regarding "Xanadu." If she's seen the show and hated it, that's one thing, but if she's making a snarky "we'll let you know when it closes" based simply on what she saw on the report, it was completely unnecessary and mean-spirited.

As Kerry Butler says herself in the report, it's not Shakespeare, it's dippy, goofy fun. No pretense, no great social significance--just a lot of fun. I'm not as obsessed with the show as some, but from my vantagepoint on stage (yes, there's onstage seating that puts you in the middle of everything), I got right into the spirit of things. It may not win Tonys, but it's winning a devoted following before even officially opening and while the reviews will, I'm sure, be mixed, McFadden's verbal smackdown does her or ABC no favors.

I totally agree that Cynthia McFadden's tag line was snarky. It was a really enjoyable piece until she said that, which was kind of uncalled for.

Yes. That snarky little bitch's comment was rude and uncalled for.
I agree, she probably hasnt even seen the show, let alone know much about it beyond that it's based on the movie.

I'm glad they showed some great clips
And I loved seeing footage of Cheyenne.

"Suddenly" is still like my favorite moment in the show.

The video is on the Nightline site within the ABC news site...and as I tried to infer, it's the most popular one there. You should be able to find the "contact us" link there too.
