Yeah, I was in Sure Thing last year, and Ives and Durang write great stuff but it's all extremely over done at my school so we have to try and stay away from those particular authors. BTW Racetrack: LOVE your icon!!!! I've loved Newsies since it came out and Racetrack is my fave!! :0)

One Acts Nov 27
2004, 04:28:21 PM
So I have to apologize right now for anyone who hates looking through annoying posts from people who need help. That being said: Every year, our drama program ends our season of four shows (1 shakespeare, 1 straight show, 1 musical, and then a senior farewell)with senior directed one acts about a month after the farewell. The one acts are chosen by each 'director' and they can't be longer than 15 minutes, preferably no mainly-female casts. Does anyone have any ideas as to whe

A few years ago, all the boys in my school sang impossible dream...it wasn't pleasant for anyone. We just had auditions for Sweeney and History of the American Film, and it seemed like either a boy did "You Must Meet My Wife" from Night Music, or "Giants in the Sky" from Into The Woods. Oddly enough, the girls all sang different things which I don't remember happening before, but I think we've all become so competitive we refuse to sing what someone else is! ooo what we do with

We just did Les Mis last year and got absolutely rave reviews from every critic that came to see it...this year, Sweeney goes up in March. I'm pretty confident that it will get just as good a response. My friends went to see the NYU production, and they didn't find too much a problem with it, but in any case, it all depends on who you have, and who's willing to put in the dedication and work to make annyy show work.

How about "Could I Leave You" from Follies? Wordy, and the music is very similar to that of Into the Woods. Break a leg!

I had the ...privilege?...of seeing Ms. Gibson play Sally Bowles and meeting her afterwards. Let's leave it as: she was far more endearing (and easier on the ear) when she was off stage...

Monologue help for Mrs. Lovett?? Nov 13
2004, 02:10:42 AM
Well, it's me again, sorry to have become so bothersome. I'm almost 100% positive that I'll be using "Losing My Mind" for an audition song, but now I need some help: is there any specific monologue that could be best to audition with? Lovett is an insanely unique, quirky character, and I can't think off the op of my head what to use for her. HELP please!!! :0/

We can use any Sondheims that are not too up-tempo, they should be more along the lines of ballads and have a sound that's reminiscent of the type of music in Sweeney. Any ideas? **Anything** is appreciated!!!

Audition Songs for Mrs. Lovett!!?? Nov 11
2004, 12:22:12 AM
I will be auditioning for Sweeney Todd in a few weeks, but I'm still not sure what to sing. I'm an alto, tenor to high belt range, and my guidelines are that the audition song must be a sondheim (not company, into the woods, follies, etc.) or legit rodgers & ham. Does anyone have any suggestions for me, and what kind of song would Mrs. Lovett's character sing?
