McKenzie Kurtz suddenly departs HEATHERS Dec 16

Such a shame. Kurtz was excellent in the role. Having seen both Kurtz and Al-Bazali, there was marked difference. Kurtz's dynamic and layered performance added much to this show. I hope they can find a replacement as strong as Kurtz.

Matthew Broderick & David Cross to co-star off-Broadway in new TARTUFFE written by Lucas Hnath Dec 15

I’ll start simply- André de Shields’ recent Tartuffe blows this one out of the water by a country mile. That production was high concept, campy, and well-performed. This, comparatively, felt like an overlong SNL-style facsimile that, while I laughed quite a few times, ultimately did not amount to a satisfying whole. Hnath tries to add modern profanity

Oh. No. We liked the one at NYTW MUCH more than the poorly handled uptown DeShields presentation - which felt like amateur hour from the cast (except DeShields and Iman) - and was barely directed. It was in an interesting space, poorly used, but that's about it.
The NYTW cast was better as a whole and there was at least some form of vision.

Bayardelle is 10x more talented than Lewis. Lewis seems super insecure per usual.
Bayardelle was also booked (and not as old as Lewis) when Lewis did HK.
I’m sure Bayardelle would’ve won the Tony too. It was the role - and that particular years lower competition .
Bayardelle is fantastic

Why don’t Off Bway shows report their weekly grosses? Dec 12

Smaxie said: "Except that Heathers is, and has been, making money since it started performances in June. It had the highest advance sales in New World history, and broke the house record multiple times."
And STILL It won't make its money back. It's too expensive weekly with cast size to start for its ticket price.

The show will or won't succeed if Ali is or isn't involved. Because someone is included in a cast announcement and in studio vocal video doesn't mean it will end up that way (see also Cassie Levy) . He's not out yet - but there are other things ... We will see what shakes out
The show/product is the thing.

Boop was well done. It wasn't well produced or brought to the arena at the right time. It came in too late and couldn't gain its word of mouth fast enough.

Perhaps. But he's a good choice. He has a strong track record with development - particularly with female driven musicals. (I'm sure up and coming female directors are upset but ...) his career speaks for itself and will give additional credit to the piece (with many shows flopping). Prada isn't great in London but it's 100 times better than it was in the US.
Many of the current female directors & up and coming women directors h

That's not the reason, if he decides to officially leave. There are more than one much more profitable items being pitched to him outside of theater.
