MHE was the frontrunner. Now, with "new musical" competition in the mix that has changed. The splitting has commenced.

Yes, very aware of the supply. MHE is getting 'overhype' buzz now from new attendees, due to online and word of mouth overhype, pushy reditors among them. MHE's narrative has become stale with several new small 'under dog' shows out there now, each in their own way (OM, BVSC, DO etc). MHE is now another show in this fray.
Mincemeat is the underdog of the moment, come stateside to the musical "American first" critics. And yes, it's impressive that Mincemeat has come in with a fantastic average ticket price, even with the early "gold ticket" ticket discounts in the mix, despite its packed smaller (if we must compare) house. MHE has had nice momentum but the it now shares it will a lot of other shows on their upward trajectories. Dead Outlaw looks to gain traction on Broadway as the newest underdog reviewed in a few weeks. Audience are now looking to the new collection of spring show underdogs. The tide is changing. It's a nice season with and underdog story of ones choice. With many in the mix could Death Becomes Her squeak out a win?

Most shows did. It's spring break. Mincemeat had a better average ticket price while only being open a few weeks.

Maybe Happy Ending also has momentum and has an extremely compelling reversal-of-fortunes underdog narrative. Whether or not you personally care for the show, MHE is objectively competitive for Best Musical."
MHE was a cute musical rom-com that had momentum months ago&nbs

Right now it's on track to outlast ALL of the new musicals this season. The few reviews that "disliked" it aren't fans of the style or Brit musicals traditionally. No surprise.. OM a fantastic show (audiences are up as the lights come up for bows) with an amazing cast, the best book thus far - and the only score I've heard audiences taking out of the theater or humming in the bathroom.
It, and perhaps Dead Outlaw, have major momentum o

Management now preps British creative teams for the "hit overseas" anti-British musical reviewers, on par with tonight. They were ready for what was to come.

With a university director and a cast known to only super hardcore theater types, sadly this is no surprise. They needed stars, or bigger name theater people, and stronger director to have this take off.

Yes, terrible review - as usual from this person.
"Robert Hastie provides the frenzied “Mincemeat” direction. It forced someone behind me to whisper halfway through Act 1, “This is exhausting.” Nothing kills a laugh faster than seeing actors sweat."
How old with this "person". It's fast paced, but to end the review this is ridiculous. The cast makes it look EASY via the direction and choreography. I'm n

Hardly "bad" by any means. There is a traditional "America First" (especially with musicals) mentality with the NYTimes, Post and TimeOut (Washington Post too sometimes) who also can't decide if a good book original musical matters, or not. The Wrap's Hofler hates most things. None of these are a bit surprising. Management probably prepped the British team before the reviews - they have with others crossing over. The au

TOTALLY. It has ALL the elements - the BEST, SMARTEST and most cohesive book & score this season so far. Excellent direction with wholly impressive production and that cast of co-writers (who don't sweat a bit!) ! We've now seen it twice with it becoming the frontrunner prior to viewings of JIT, RWHC and Dea

Regardless, the musical is a feast for the soul and eardrums, I cannot wait to return. Congratulations to an incredibly talented cast and crew!"
It's reviews are on par with Death Becomes Her.

WE SEE YOU ANDREW SCOTT - Sara Holdren
The production, directed by Sam Yates and designed by Rosanna Vize (movingly, they also share co-creator credits with Scott and Stephens), racked up plenty of its own accolades — and though shows beloved one one side of the Atlantic don’t always stick the landing on the other, this one vaults across with wit and grace.

REVIEW: ANDREW SCOTT CREATES A WORLD OUT OF NOTHING IN VANYA -Dan Rubins
And because Scott treats every character with such rigorous respect, Vanya becomes not so much a deconstruction of a classic as a celebration—of Chekhov, of theater, and of the possibility of actor and audience agreeing to picture a fully-realized world together.
