Following a pair of recent acclaimed Off-Broadway runs, Job takes up new residence at the Helen Hayes Theatre. The two-hander play stars “Succession” alums Peter Friedman and Sydney Lemmon. Written by Max Wolf Friedlich and directed by Michael Herwitz, Job begins previews tomorrow night (July 15), opens on July 30, and will run through September 29.
“After being placed on leave following a viral workplace incident, Jane would do anything to return to her Big Tech job. But as the therapist who needs to authorize it, Loyd suspects her work might be doing more harm than good.”
Who’s heading to the office?

Went tonight. Sold out.with people looking for cancelations. Extremely well written and acted. Stunning.
I was supposed to be there but my train ride was stuck for thirty minutes. Missed curtain. Thank you kindly to our MTA overlords for their fantastic service as always.

Trains were still an absolute mess four hours later. My 45 minute commute home took 90.

Hope Sydney Lemmon and Peter Friedman are remembered come Tony Nomination time.

That’s why whenever I have to take any mass transit (usually NJ Transit), I do so with the goal of getting there no later than doors opening.
I saw a lot of people on Twitter pissed, but also saying they left home at, like, 7:20/7:30 - which is really poor planning in my opinion.

This might become a hot ticket, but it isn't right now. There is plenty of availability, and they've been discounting a ton (most of this week was on TDF).
I saw it downtown, so I'm not sure how much they've changed, but it's not the sort of show that needs multiple viewings. I wonder how that'll affect them. Word of mouth was strong, so fingers crossed for them.

I feel more or less the same way, but I am a liiiiiittle curious how it plays if you go in knowing the full story. I probably won't go back, but I can understand why some would. For the record, I really, really enjoyed it downtown.
May I ask…did it run only 80 minutes? I’m seeing it on Thursday at 5pm with another show at 7pm. Just want to make sure I’m going to make it.
Thanks in advance!

Just based on the math, assume it starts 5-10 minutes late, 5 minutes give or take for preview adjustments, and then your travel to your next theatre (?). It’s definitely possible but also cutting it close depending on where your next show is

Oh I'm definitely planning on going again because I feel it would play different a second time. But I also work in a somewhat related field as the topic of this play so maybe it hit harder for me.
I saw the first run downtown and enjoyed it, although my sightline sucked at SoHo Playhouse. When I got the email announcement from the production about the run at the Connelly Theater, it said something along the lines of "this won't be the exact same production you saw before." Now, with the addition of scoring by Blood Orange, it seemed like a no-brainer to go back, so I'm seeing it again on Saturday.

Majority of dates have mezzanine extreme right and last row mezz greyed out...so that might be the rush tickets?
I really did enjoy this tonight but I’m not sure I liked that ending. I really need to think on it..
The ending didn't earn the rest of the play for us downtown. Eh. It's fine.
Every regional theater will do it since it's two people and been on Broadway now.
Can someone either DM me or spoiler tag the ending? I have a feeling I won't be seeing this one, but I'm curious how it plays out.
People have been split about the ending since the Soho Playhouse days. Personally I love it, and I find it open to a few interpretations outside of the literal one. My second viewing last night confirmed that to me.
Saw this tonight - I'm in the camp that found the ending disappointing (very mild spoiler)...
The play had posed a lot of interesting questions that I felt it abandoned as it took that turn in its final moments. And as for what we got, I would have liked to have seen a more ambiguous reaction from the therapist, giving space for other interpretations.
(I was also annoyed by the audience laughing at inappropriate moments - this wasn't a problem when I saw it downtown)
Am I the only one who think he’s not guilty? I thought that downtown and having seen it on Broadway I feel even stronger about it. In order for him to be the man she is accusing him of being, him being her therapist would be a one in a six billion chance. It’s way too unrealistic.

i thought it was left ambiguous, but others disagreed. i certainly think your conclusion is plausible.
