Your first Broadway show?

I was fortunate enough to see the show at the end of preview week, a night or two before it opened, and it was anamazing experience!"

A bit off topic, but my best friend from college lived next door to Frank Langella during his run in Dracula.   As a surprise for my 21s

Your first Broadway show?

My first Broadway show was “Grease” when I was in junior high.   It was a life changing experience for me.

What would you love to see adapted as a musical?
 Aug 22 2025, 03:35:14 AM

I think a musical of “A Confederacy of Dunces” would be really fun. It has already been adapted into a play and I think the New Orleans setting and extravagant characters would make a fun show.

What did Michael Bennett think of the “A Chorus Line” film?
 Jul 30 2025, 12:11:49 AM

I remember when it came out and having seen ACL so many times before it did.  I after the opening I wanted to throw something at the screen.  When they decided to make “What I Did for Love” a love song I stood up and said to friends who went with me, “I will be in the car, this is trash” and left.  I eventually watched the end years later and still was appalled at what was put on film.  It should have been cut up for guitar picks.

Does Taylor Swift and big pop stars charge less when they are not playing NYC?

Honestly I was shocked when we moved from NY to Huntsville, AL at the prices that are charged for shows in Nashville, Huntsville, and Birmingham.  All of the theaters are huge barns with terrible acoustics.  I

UK tour of BAT OUT OF HELL to be filmed for Broadway HD
 Jul 27 2025, 03:39:55 PM

I saw this in Toronto years ago.  I love Jim Steinman’s music and thought the singing was great, but what an awful afternoon of theater.  I would have just rather seen a concert of his music and thrown out all the script.

They're Playing Our Song

I saw it with Klein and Arnaz.   It’s what I call and “one and done.”  Glad I saw it, don’t care to ever see it a second time, unless someone very compelling was in it.  I think Parker/Broderick would have been great.  It is so dated and I found the music bland along with the writing.

Stage adaptation of Jerry Herman’s MRS. SANTA CLAUS to premiere at Goodspeed in 2025!

I would love to see Christine Ebersole or Beth Leavel.   I think either could bring a nice touch with a little bit of irony and acidic comedy to it.

Jesse Green: ‘A Chorus Line’ and ‘Chicago’ at 50: Who Won?
 Jul 18 2025, 01:31:13 PM

Having seen both with the original cast, I will say at the time "A Chorus Line"  was innovative and compelling.  It sucked you in and didn't let you go till the lights faded on the kick line.  "Chicago" was fun and exciting and the dancing (like "Pippin") with the score I think made the show.  I will say, I think "Chicago" even in its current striped down form is a better show overall currently.  "ACL" needs to be

Makes me appreciateOnly Murders in the Building. It might just be 10-episode seasons, but they've cranked them out every year and they're still consistently high quality.

Frankly find this a ridiculous move. Could this new venue built with tax dollars not employ some New Yorkers to create a new one rather than import a production from… the UK? Am I alone in this reaction?
"

I think you are alone in these thoughts.  I saw it when it played Broadway in 2019 and it still is one of my favorite nights at a theater and I am planning a trip to NY just to see it again.  The cast at that time was all Americans but was a reproduction of the Old Vic’s production.  I am thrilled that this is returning.

The Outsiders - what shape is it in?
 Jul 7 2025, 07:31:59 PM

We saw the first preview, then again this past January and then in June.  I think it actually has improved each time we have seen it.  We did see Brody Grant’s understudy in June and I think it actually was a bit more exciting because of this.

Gypsy Has Been a Hit -- several times.
 Jul 7 2025, 07:24:05 PM

I love “Gypsy” and have seen it on Broadway with Bernadette, Patti and Audra.  Patti is still my favorite on stage.  But I still think Bette Midler in the 1993 filmed version is my favorite and would have loved to have seen her do it live.  At that time it was a big hit and event for tv.  The film received an 18.6/28 household rating/share, ranking 4th out of 90 programs that week, and was watched by 26.2 million viewer.  What I will say is we took a 21 ye

NYT feature on Jordan Roth: A Broadway Big Shot Is Now Reinventing Himself
 Jun 30 2025, 03:51:37 PM

I was reading his husband’s book.  When I found out that Jordan Roth was his husband, I took the book  and walked over to the trash and threw it away.   He is famous only for his wealth and nothing more.  He wasn’t born with a silver spoon.  It was a silver shovel and backhoe.

It was 2017.  We were there the night the Clintons attended.  My favorite memory of something other than Barbra was my husband saying he had never seen that many walkers and wheelchairs in a concert ever.
