Has anyone recognized actors anywhere but a show? Oct 31
2019, 09:08:41 AM
Walking around the theatre district before and after shows, I've run into multiple Broadway actors. During my September trip, I saw Andre De Shields, Ryann Redmond, Andrew Chappelle, Kristolyn Lloyd, Asa Somers, Eva Noblezada, and Chad Kimball. On the last day of the trip, my sister and I were taking a tour with Broadway Up Close, and we were telling Tim (the owner and our tour guide) about all of the people we had run into so far. As we talked, Tim led us out of Shubert Alley and onto 44th street. He said "Yeah, if you walk around the theatre district long enough, you're bound to run into someone. Speaking of which, look behind you." We turned around just in time to see Dakin Matthews walking into the Shubert for the TKAM matinee!
Another of my favorite stories is when I went to see Lobby Hero. I was pretty pumped to see Chris Evans (huuuuge crush on him), so I got a seat by myself on the second row, left orchestra. As I was waiting for the show to start, I glanced around and saw a man on the front row who looked familiar, and I was convinced it was Billy Porter. Obviously I was excited, and I started thinking of a way to approach him without being weird. In the end I decided to leave him alone, and I'm glad I did because it wasn't Billy Porter. As I was leaving the theatre, another audience member walked up to him to ask for an autograph, and as he spoke, I realized it was Chris Rock

I need opinions on what to see! Sep 26
2018, 12:19:28 PM
To anyone interested: Just got back from NYC on Monday. I ended up adding a few shows to my trip, seeing six shows over the course of four days. I saw Come From Away, Mean Girls, My Fair Lady, Be More Chill, Kinky Boots, and The Band's Visit. I enjoyed all of the shows (except Be More Chill), but CFA and TBV were definitely my favorites. My seat for TBV was absolutely perfect; great sightlines, and I was close enough to be completely absorbed in the show. It's a beautiful production!

Seeing a matinee on Flea Day Sep 16
2018, 09:27:15 PM
I saw the DEH matinee on last year's Flea Market Day, and had plenty of time to visit the flea market, then get lunch before the show. There was a stage door, although only Rachel Bay Jones, Kristolyn Lloyd, and Asa Somers came through. Not sure if the others decided not to stage door because of the flea market, because it was Ben Platt's birthday, or because they just had other plans. But I think seeing a matinee on flea day is perfect! I would check out the autograph table and selfie booth ahe

Anyone notice how BLUE Broadway is these days? Aug 30
2018, 09:15:25 PM
I love your question, and it made me really curious so I did a little research, and this is what I found:
"Blue is often associated with sadness in the English language. Blue is also used extensively to represent calmness and responsibility. Light blues can be refreshing and friendly. Dark blues are more strong and reliable. Blue is also associated with peace and has spiritual and religious connotations in many cultures and traditions (for example, the Virgin Mary is generally

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 8/26/18 Aug 28

With Labor Day being this coming weekend, is a Labor Day closing still possible for any show? I’m going to NYC the weekend of September 22nd, and am trying to gauge if any shows will be closed by then. How much longer can Gettin’ the Band Back Together sustain those numbers?

Once on This Island lottery Aug 25
2018, 09:41:44 AM
Does anyone know what this lottery looks like for a Sunday matinee? I'll be in NYC late September (not the weekend of the BCEFA flea market, so hopefully less crowded). I'm trying to decide if I should try for OOTI tickets, seeing as they're about $60, or try my hand at Broadway Roulette, which will end up about $75. I would like to see OOTI, but I want to know if a ticket will be a sure thing before I try it. Do they still do the lotto losers?

I know that Sasson Gabai stepped into the role of Tewfiq Tuesday evening. Has anyone seen him yet? How is his performance?

Thanks for your responses! I just bought my ticket for The Band's Visit. I got pretty close; Orch Right, row A, on the aisle. I'm excited to be so close!

Hi all! I will be traveling to NYC at the end of September to see a few shows with my sister, and to attend the BCEFA Flea Market. We already have tickets to Come From Away and Mean Girls, and would like to do a third show. My sister has bought a ticket to Once on This Island, however I am debating whether I should also get a ticket, or whether I should go for The Band's Visit instead (I have been wanting to see TBV for a while). I can only do one of these two. I understand from rea
