It's a bore. Nothing remotely Gallic on the stage. Nothing remotely sophisticated. It's just BAD.

The curtain should win an award as the ugliest curtain to ever appear in a Broadway theatre.

I saw the show several times at the Shubert Theatre in Boston. It was first to have been presented by The David Merrick Arts Foundation as an experimental work in New York. Merrick didn't do the show and Alexander H. Cohen took it on as a Broadway musical staged by Gower Champion. Angela Lansbury gave the most dazzling performance. She never failed to be both hilarious and deeply moving throughout the absurd premise and plot. Several very good songs and supporting performances but it was ne

It's a big hit and deservedly so. What a great night out.
Kinky Boots a.k.a. The Emperor's New Heels  Mar 17 2013, 11:05:00 PM
Totally agree with you. What a disappointment. Sweet story with a couple of nice tunes but otherwise really disappointing. I didn't care for Porter's one note characterization and tired of him quickly. Can he act? It wasn't apparent here and he got no help from the director. Stark Sands is simply not up to carrying a Broadway musical and again got no help from the material or the direction. Such a let down. What a shame.

MOTOWN THE MUSICAL Previews  Mar 14 2013, 04:42:39 PM
Saw the show Weds night and think it's going to be a big hit. The cast are superb and it's great to hear all those hit songs performed so well. The audience really wanted the show and were not disappointed. The choreography is fresh, entertaining, and the numbers really land. Valisia Lakae gives a winning performance as Diana Ross and
Brandon Victor Dixon is simply wonderful as Berry Gordy. His talent and charisma shine throughout the show, even in the sometimes clunky book scenes. Sp
