And all I can say is if it isn't going to be better than the original or bring a new vision to the show- there is no need for a revival. I was actually very open to Christina Applegate until I saw it. If I wasn't, I would never have seen it. I never was interested in seeing Wayne Cilento's choreography because I've never liked anything he's ever done. I don't need the Fosse production...I would actually prefer to see something different. But I definetely didn't need to see Wayne and Bobbie's.

Couldn't agree with you more on Walter and Wayne's work. Boring, boring, boring.

Frankly I was looking for someone with a personality. Yes Charity has to act, sing and dance- but she more than anything has to carry a show. For me she hit many of the right points, and yes hit a lot of the scenes out of the park- but in the end it added up to not much. Maybe this is because a lot of the supporting cast was rather dull (cast to make Christina look better), and Cilento and Bobbie's work certainly didn't help. Nothing for me in that production warranted a revival. Everything from

I actually thought Christina did quite well in the acting department- but as a presence I find her rather boring. May be a personal taste thing. Just didn't work for me.

Fosca- Jane screwed up. It's Neil Simon's play, and a revival at that. You do what he wrote or you don't do it. What Jane did was not admirable, but instead highly unprofessional. She's talented yes, but also known to be a royal pain.

I don't know all the details but I know that Jane had an argument with Neil Simon during the workshop of the show in New York (post Marissa, pre Christina)

And Christina Applegate can sing? I have hear the Once on this Mattress and a bootleg of How To Succeed...Great No, but better than half of the TV actresses turned Broadway actresses. I promise you nothing could be worse than Molly Ringwald. My vote would have gone to Jane Krakowski- but she screwed that up royally.

Sarah Jessica Parker as Charity Oct 18

Okay so hearing about how awful Molly Ringwald is in the Charity tour (not surprising her Sally Bowles was so unbearable I had to leave) and knowing how mediocre (that's kind) Christina Applegate was, I was wondering if Sarah Jessica Parker was ever offered the role on Broadway. Talk about the PERFECT Charity Hope Valentine. She would have killed- she can act, sing, dance...I mean really was there ever discussion of her playing the role when they were planning the revival. And talk about an actu

Theatremania raves about Signature's My Fair Lady and Sally Murphy's portrayal of Eliza. "Buried underneath the lavish sets and profusion of period costumes in many productions of the musical are Shaw's rich characters and their emotional conflict over class and character; by cleaning away all the surface layers, Schaeffer has allowed this diamond to sparkle in a new way...Sally Murphy is luminous as Eliza, singing with so much passion and energy that she makes some of the songs seem

Pics on-line of Megan Hilty and Sara Ford (current Louisa in Fantasticks) in productions at their alma mater- CMU. Megan Hilty as Queenie in The Wild Party (I believe that's Aaron Staton from Mama Mia with her as Black.) And Sara Ford in The Rise and Fall of Mahagony.

A friend of mine had an extra ticket, and although I didn't LOVE the production when I first saw it I did like it alot so I figured I would tag along. Peter Marks review is dead on. Christine shines in the role now. Her only fault is that she may not be vocally strong enough for my taste, but her warmth and comedic timing is infectious and I can honestly say she made me forget Rosalind Russell for a while last night. The Kennedy Center was stupid to allow the reviewers to come so early.

Mame is not an official "no" yet. From what I understand it still looks like a possibility. As for Tovah in Dolly....no thanks.

re: 'Mame' clips on That's Kentertainment Jun 22

Unfortuntely the clips do not do the show justice. I had my problems with the production but the show is certainly better than those clips. Also all of these are press reels and were... I'm sure shot during dress. I'm sure I saw the same clips on the local news. From what I hear from everyone I know who has seen the show recently (I saw it in the first week)- Baranski has stepped up to the plate. As for Warren's choreography...it is by far the BEST I have seen in years. Paint by number?

inlovewithjerryherman- She is too old for Adelaide and WAY too old for Mabel. She's almost 50...Mabel is what...17/18? Although I'm sure she would have been great in her prime. I think she would be a great Chaperone and a brilliant Mame. I would also pay to see her Mrs Lovette. I see it.

The real question is why in the world would you want to see Dance of the Vampires or Little Shop of Horrors? I support the filming of theater of course and I thought the Light in the Piazza was exceptionally filmed, however I don't need to see every Broadway show on PBS. Light was a rare and wonderful treat and certainly worth it. This needed to be taped for it's sheer beauty- one of the most breathtaking productions I have ever seen with what I am sure will one day be called one of the greatest

And my next step would be to cast Megan Lawrence as Gooch (I ADORE Emily- I just don't think this role is really the best fit for her- while she gives a pretty good performance)
