The word i've heard people using is semi-immersive. Is that better for you BroadwayNYC2?

Is Cabaret the next Chicago? May 12
2024, 11:52:43 PM
Well i think it's both. You stunt cast the show when you need to. Chicago usually does this during the winter to get them through the tough months, and then they go back to the musical theatre stars for the summer. I think that's a great model that Cabaret could follow

I really hope that’s true. I loved Sutton, but Harriet Harris stole the show for me

I only saw the Sam Mendes Cabaret once, and it was with Sienna Miller. She was PERFECT as Sally bowls. Truly the best there ever was, I can’t imagine a better performance. Even Ben Brantley in the nyt raved. I still have her performance in my head, I would desperately want to see her in it again. Her voice, speaking and singing, the way she moved, her personality, she WAS Sally Bowls

Oh for sure. I really disliked the immersiveness of it. If it was restaged on a thrust, I’d like it. ASPECTS OF LOVE should come

The pre show is only five people. Even with them, it’s still a smaller cast than Chicago. I imagine their next emcee will be a big star as well

Fall 2024 Shows May 12

Buena Vista Social Club is coming this fall based on the casting notice. I’m just realizing that Michael Mayer is directing both Grounded and Aida at the Met this fall, so maybe Swept Away will happen in the springtime?

The renovation of the theatre is what made it expensive. Their weekly running costs can’t be high especially when you take out the star salary.

The Thursday matinees that Great Gatsby has been doing are selling very well, it’s one of their best sold performances.

The show is even smaller than Chicago, it has to be cheap to run. They can stunt cast like Chicago to sustain them through the tough months. I bet it runs even longer than the first roundabout revival.

There was a rumor that Lincoln Center is going to produce a production of Floyd Collins at the Beaumont. I really hope that’s true. Plus his new musical Millions that will premier this time next year in Atlanta. Yay for Adam

He is Broadway royalty and did hell of a job here. I’m so looking forward to his next show and happy he’s still going strong. His music is just so sophisticated, he comes in the musical theatre tradition of Richard Rodgers and Sondheim we are so lucky to have him
