With Stokes as Herbie, pretty please?
Denée Benton and/or Celia Rose Gooding, please!

She'll act the hell out of this. But I can't help but have doubts about a legit soprano Mama Rose. Love Audra's voice, but it does get a little hootie when songs aren't suited for her sometimes.

May I throw in Joy Woods as an option?

So much for my dreams of Sheryl Lee Ralph and Keke Palmer or Adrienne Warren. That would be so much more interesting to me.

Both suggestions of Joy and Keke are two additional options that would be great!

I had the same thought about her voice. I worry that this is a case of the “suttons” (aka an established musical theatre star who keeps taking on roles she’s not “right for” to push herself and because she wants to play them). Regardless, I doubt Audra would do it if she wasn’t sure she’d be brilliant, so I’m keeping an open mind!

Audra sang Rose's Turn in one of her concerts not long ago. She sounded amazing!

Why not both? I actually see Keke more as a Dainty June and Joy Woods as a Louise. So many fabulous young performers you can plug in to these two roles.

And I quote: Worth reminding the folks who don't like this production that you don't have to see it!! :)

Then don't go see it. (what's good for the goose....)"
Oooohh got me. Burrrrrrn. Ya'll need hobbies.
Oh.....I see, it's alright for YOU to criticize, but you still act uppity when the tables are turned. Typical.

Anyway.
Halle Bailey could handle Louise, and means a little more at the box office than Audra. But I don't know if she has any Broadway aspirations.
The role may be below him at this point especially if he's Oscar-nominated this year, but I'd love to see Jeffrey Wright as Herbie. Or Brandon Uranowitz, or David Hyde Pierce, or Kevin Del Aguila, or Reed Birney...endless possibilities for a role that's not hard to play well.
More curious about the director and the vision.

I wonder if the discourse about the name will start again. If they're going to change it, rolling it out with a new production would help smooth things over with the die-hard originalists.
With Wendell Pierce and Janelle Monáe, please. Heather Headley as Rose after Audra.

Imagine they rebranded it GYPSY ROSE and you had bus loads of Gen Z turning up expecting a musical about Gypsy Rose Blanchard.

Let's not kid ourselves, we're getting a Gypsy Rose Blanchard musical in like 5 years tops.
Wasn’t George C. Wolfe rumored to be attached as director when this was a Rudin venture? Would love for that to come to pass.
Would also love to see a woman director’s take on the show.
Well there goes Nicole’s Tony Award

Heather is a much better fit vocally.

Please not Lonny Price!
Wonder who's producing this. Tom Kirdahy? Jeffrey Richards? They're the two non-Rudin producers she's worked with most recently. I believe Roundabout was, at one point, attached to the Jonathan Kent/Imelda Staunton revival.
