The idea is to work and to experiment. Some things will be creatively successful, some things will succeed at the box office, and some things will only - which is the biggest only - teach you things that see the future. And they're probably as valuable as any of your successes. -Harold Prince
Lovely for all four leads being brought over with the production. They all got wonderful notices, so it makes a lot of sense to keep what works so well about it in the transfer. I’m dying to see this and I don’t even like Sunset (walked out of the Glenn Close revival at intermission).
I’ll also be curious to see who they get for the Norma alternate.
Jordan Catalano said: "Grace is doing “Hadestown” in London starring next month, so that means this “Sunset” most probably won’t be until late summer/Fall.
And I reeeally want Laura Benanti as Tuesday Night Norma."
There was a rumor floating around about November being either the start of previews or opening. And now I can’t unsee Benanti as Norma, so I guess I have to budget to see this twice now, thanks. 😂
I imagine this will have Merrily timing and she’ll be in the role through the Tonys and shortly thereafter. Earlier this week she posted and deleted the rumor article which said she had committed to at least 6 months.
SUCH a thrilling announcement. This production is going to come in with a lot of heat.
Just putting it out there but SJB needs to be the Norma Alternate!

am the only one who did NOT like this revival at all?
from Nicole’s TikTok dances and MC Debra acting choices, to the SHEIN costumes of the ensemble… I could go on.
obviously I’m missing/not understanding something, and I am genuinely happy for those stateside who will get to see it, but I am very curious to see how it will be received over there or if there will be any changes
my first thought when I saw it was literally that this is the kind of thing you can only see in the West End because it didn’t feel ready for Broadway
Laura Benanti doesn't work vocally for this production I don't think. She'll be drowned by that orchestra which is clearly a key component of this production. SJB makes much more sense vocally. I would kill to see her take on something as dark as this for a role she already played pretty straight.
Lea Michele would be phenomenal in this role too, but doubt she's in the market to replace in another production after proving she's a bankable name on her own.
I'm afraid I was not that thrilled with the production of Sunset, which I saw in London. I know that it has its fans, but I only enjoyed it moderately. I was particularly unimpressed by the choreography. I love Jamie Lloyd's work, having seen and admired many of his productions, but I thought the Sunset just wasn't good enough. Regarding Nicole, I guess she was ok, but I kept thinking I was watching Maila Nurmi (aka Vampira) as Norma.
It will be interesting to see how it's received here.
Is that just someone's hope though? I don't see any confirmation."
Yeah the West End board has indicated this account only posts their hopes and dreams and can't be relied on for actual info. Not to say it won't come to fruition given they clearly have professionally captured recordings that they've used in advertising and social, but I'll believe it when it happens. It's MUCH cheaper to record cast recordings in the UK too fwiw.

The choreography is typical Fabian Aloise pop music video only paying lip service to Bausch, because that would actually be more radical. All the nods to film noir, and the cinematography also comes across ugly and therefore nothing like the best films it aims to pay homage to
