Damn, it’s already reached its goal! Malloy sure has a mighty fandom. Can’t wait to get the digital album and my prizes.

Broadway during the Jewish High Holidays Aug 28
2023, 09:56:23 PM
I actually can’t think off the top of my head of any instances of a performer calling out due to the holidays! Obviously I know it happens, but nothing comes to mind. I do remember last year, the Broadway Flea fell right around Rosh Hashanah.

Signature Theatre season includes Morriseau, Ruhl, and Malloy musical premiere Jun 13
2023, 07:59:12 PM
Anyone who knows me or even just looks at my profile can tell that Malloy is my favorite composer, and the rest of the season is incredible as well - might just be the Signature's best season yet, and they always have had amazing things for as long as I've known about them! This is so exciting.

Dave Malloy's new west coast musical May 11
2023, 12:25:18 AM
I’m so sorry to revive this old thread, I was actually looking for the old Shotgun Players thread and found this instead, but anyway…
looks like the show is getting produced again! I’m obviously a huge Malloy fan and even got to see Don’t Stop Me at Manhattan School of Music last year.

For those who are familiar with the book/movie, how does it hold up as an adaptation? Is it accurate? Better/worse than the other versions?
And as for the ending... Click Here To Toggle Spoiler Content How did they do the "two stories" thing at the end?

Musicals With Jesus as a Character Mar 1
2023, 07:55:04 PM
Dave Malloy wrote a musical around 2003 called Clown Bible which is exactly what it sounds like. Jesus was a woman, and her last song was an opera ballad. Definitely not as conventional as the other shows listed here but it’s pretty good!

Lillias White Calling Out Deaf Audience Member For Using CC Device Oct 13
2022, 12:26:22 PM
Just awful, I do hope the show itself and/or Lillias puts out an official statement in apology. While no one was ill-intentioned, it's definitely a prime example of the systemic ableism within the theatre community,

Hadestown Understudies Sep 10

Alex Maria Lugo recently made their debut as Eurydice on the tour, making them the first non-binary person to play Eurydice. Mazel tov! In fact, the tour has had a fair amount of understudies in general lately. Will Mann and Marquis Woods each had a Hades performance in the past few weeks, and Will even had to emergency cover a Fate!

Reeve and Eva are out next week, though I’m unsure of the exact days. Sayo Oni is covering Reeve, unsure who will be in for Eva. I’m hoping it’s Grace Yoo - as much as I love Jessie Shelton’s Eurydice, I don’t believe Grace has made her debut yet and I’m curious to hear her!

The Brooks Atkinson Theatre gets a new name: The Lena Horne Theatre! Jun 9
2022, 07:58:25 PM
I’m biased as a Hadestown fan, but I’d love to see the Walter Kerr theatre renamed to the André de Shields theatre. While it’s true Jujamcyn Theatres already has a house named after August Wilson, I thought that part of the New Deal was to rename at least one house, period, regardless of any pre-existing names? Either way, you can never have too many theatres named after Black artists/performers.
I also think the Broadway Theatre should be renamed, period. The

Octet to Berkeley Rep Spring 2021 Apr 27
2022, 11:35:17 AM
Not to look ahead too much when it's still in previews at BRT, but I'm so curious as to where it will transfer to when it moves to Broadway. I know they wanted CITS, which is not available this season. It'd have to go to a small theatre. Comet works great both as an intimate black-box show AND as a spectacle. Octet would not. Anyway, mild spoiler-y question about this run! Are any of the songs changed/updated, or just the spoken scenes? I'm curious if there are any new lyrics, if any mu

Adam Bashian made an Instagram post of the cast, Dave, and Annie and tagged it #PreBroadway which I find interesting and hopeful.
