Jennifer DiNoia's departure could mean Stephanie Torns as standby and Carla Stickler as the new understudy. Alyssa Fox might replace Jenny Fellner as Nessarose, but again, it's just speculation. For Teal Wicks and Katie Rose Clarke, Donna Vivino and Chandra Lee Schwartz are possible replacements, though no official word yet. It’ll be exciting to see

Just because she has happened to be the standby and was on tour with it, it shouldn’t come in the way of diversity. It’s also interesting it’s taken her five years to get here compared to Alyssa Fox which took her 13 years to get to the same position, I wonder what’s different about the two of them…"

And here we go with this again.
MKM is a spectacular Elphaba and advocate. This is long overdue and well earned. And this cast looks amazing.

Sweeney Todd show count question Apr 12
2023, 01:32:29 AM
This has probably been addressed already and I just missed it... but any idea why they're only doing 7 shows a week?
A February article in the NY Post says:
"Once ‘Sweeney Todd’ leaves Fleet Street and lands on 46th Street in Midtown Manhattan, the show will adopt a fairly typical schedule.
Audiences can catch “Sweeney Todd” five nights a week from Tuesday through Saturday at 8 p.m. Sunday matinees begin at 3 p.m.
Once the musical officially opens on March 26, Kail’s production will settle into a standard eight-show week routine with Wednesday and Saturday matinees peppered into the schedule."
But they're only booking 7 shows a week through January it looks like (except holiday weeks when they go to 8). Just curious about this. I don't know much about Broadway inner workings, but I thought 8 shows a week minimum was one thing I could count on.

The whole point of having a standby, especially for a role like Elphaba, is that sometimes your voice

It looks like we will! Mary Kate posted a video to both her Instagram and Tiktok accounts of her telling her sister “casting news”, and deleted both posts once people started commenting witch emojis. Unsure if she’s standby or lead (leaning towards lead as Talia leaves in a few months), but it will be great to have her back as Elphaba nonetheless!"
I'm guessing it would be to be lead, unless they want to move Alyssa Fox from standby to principle."
I'm hurt and broken. It looks like that's where the rumors have settled. And this is zero disrespect to Alyssa. I think she's a good Elphaba. I've seen her 3 times, both on tour and B'way (twice with Carrie / once with Kara). She's good.
But out of the 80+ times I've seen this show across 4 different productions, I can vividly recall 5 shows. Two of those shows were MKM. She just absolutely commands the role. For over 4 years now I've been waiting, hoping, knowing she deserves to lead the B'way company. Last time I felt this way so strongly was none other than Donna Vivino, who took the standby gig and we never got that lead run from one of the greats.
Again, props to Alyssa, she's been good for Wicked for a long time. Nothing against her at all. Her Christine Dwyer-style pre-flight lines are evil, angry, and awesome.
But my goodness I cried when I thought Mary Kate Morrissey was our Wicked 20 Elphaba. And let's just all take a look at what I still find to be the most pained, honest, cryptic, and striking Elphaba headshot:

Yea Queen MK started her standby run during Alyssa's principal run, then finished under Emily Koch's principal run.

At 1.5 million Instagram followers, Jinkx probably has a bigger fan base than most Mama Mortons... why does that matter?

Wicked Elphaba Feb 24
2022, 02:21:13 PM
September to May, plus the month she was in before Covid sounds like a standard Elphaba run so that date wouldn't surprise me at all. I'm surprised she announced that publicly because Wicked is notoriously crappy and late at announcing lead cast changes. I remember when Lindsay was replacing Hannah I think there was like a 2-week notice which was just absurd as I wanted to see Hannah before she left and also wanted to see Lindsay's opening night but 2 weeks was not eno

Drunk Wicked Jan 11

I'm sorry but how is this so many years old and I'm just now finding it. I am HOLLERING with my glass of wine tonight.
Shoshana Bean gives her drunken take on Wicked with Eden Espinosa and Megan Hilty acting it out with the help of other famous friends.
Act 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mJvFHcsmFc
Act 2 (featuring Cheyenne Jackson and Keala Settle): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qChcMBlJiQU
And if someone could help fill in the supporting cast credits I'd appreciate it!
