re: Tony's 2003: Was it a shocker when Bernadette didn't win the Tony?  Jun 9 2006, 04:51:32 PM
It actually did a lot better business than I remember. It might just be that I really don't care as this argument should have died, oh I don't know, three years ago. I remember it having some lean weeks and there being lots of offers around and a closing notice being posted for Feb 20th and then it being rescinded but only for a few months.
re: Broadway Shows on Tony Night  Jun 9 2006, 04:26:06 PM
Tonys dress rehearsal is 9am on the day of the show. Then everyone goes off and does their matinee. Then they go back for the actual show.

Was it a shocker when Bernadette didn't win the Tony?

Not as shocking as that it's still being talked about three years later. Marissa's win was not shocking, upsetting or unexpected. Gypsy got a lot of negative press in previews, mainly centring on the alleged miscasting of Bernadette Peters as Mamma Rose. It opened to less than stellar reviews and consistently underperformed at the box office. Hairspray was a juggernaut that got killer reviews and cleaned up at the box office a

re: why would a broadway actor go on tour?  Jun 9 2006, 08:14:48 AM
But it's perceived nowadays as being beneath a Broadway "star" to tour a show. Hopefully Cherry Jones in the tour of Doubt and now Norbert Leo Butz opening the Dirty Rotten Scoundrels tour will change that opinion a little bit.
re: Evita - London Revival (spoilers)  Jun 7 2006, 10:31:10 AM
Saturday night was 4th preview. 5th if you count the invited dress on the 1st June.
re: Tony Awards tickets  Apr 18 2006, 02:15:12 PM
Tickets go on sale through Ticketmaster the morning the nominations are announced and not one minute before.
Jimmy Fallon...  Mar 19 2006, 04:46:09 PM
You're telling a 13 year old to "get a life"?

Nope. Someone pretending to be a 13 year old.

re: Norbert and Greg last performance date?  Mar 19 2006, 04:26:05 PM
They might give you the direct telephone number to the box office.

I would seriously doubt it.

re: Tarzan Ticket Question  Mar 19 2006, 03:00:17 PM
Personally I think it's a great idea.
re: Tarzan Ticket Question  Mar 19 2006, 02:55:48 PM
Looking at playbill.com, it looks like they're doing Thu-Sat.
re: Tarzan Ticket Question  Mar 19 2006, 02:51:31 PM
And yes it is true that the top price in previews is $76.25. They're only doing 3 or 4 shows a week throughout previews though.
re: Donmar 'Cabaret'  Mar 19 2006, 02:26:34 PM
Jane Horrocks was an AWFUL Sally Bowles, only cast as she was dating Sam Mendes at the time. The Donmar version of the show is a great idea but deeply flawed in execution. The Studio 54 version clearly owes a lot to Rob Marshall.
re: Woman in white UK tour. For those of you who remember the woman in white  Mar 19 2006, 02:22:34 PM
That was taken from Wikkipedia

And you don't see the flaws in that?

re: Butz's last day in DRS????  Mar 17 2006, 12:29:27 PM
And you're always so on the money
re: Sweet Charity Tour, Starring Molly Ringwald, Gets a New Director - broa  Mar 16 2006, 05:59:42 PM
I don't see what the thread title has to do with the first post.
re: New Feature: BroadwayWorld Interactive Interview with Lisa Kron - Ask Q  Mar 16 2006, 05:07:28 PM
Lisa, even though three of you (Jayne, Saidah and yourself) have been together on WELL for many incarnations, it is the entire company's Broadway debut. What is the feeling like backstage?
re: A Mackintosh plan?  Mar 16 2006, 01:22:21 PM
Didn't Les Mis frequently run afoul of overtime becuase of its length?

Yes, which is why it was reworked some years before it closed to trim enough off the running time to prevent overtime being an issue.

re: Mac attack II - Cats revival  Mar 16 2006, 01:11:00 PM
Eh, a mooted West End return for Cats never came to fruition. Lets hope the pattern holds.
re: A Mackintosh plan?  Mar 15 2006, 05:22:52 PM
I doubt it will extend. I hope it doesn't extend. The reasons for bringing the show back were pretty pathetic.
re: London Ticket Prices  Mar 15 2006, 11:42:49 AM
