I'm in the actual thread and it doesn't work.

My screen also went to dark mode, which I hate.  I'm on boring old Chrome, whatever the latest update is.  Saying "no" to dark mode in settings doesn't work.  Help.

And, Happy Thanksgiving.

Trump takeover of Kennedy Center

Some of this is hilarious and sarcastic.  Overall, it's really depressing.

The thumbs up button and the spoiler bars are still not working.  I tried using the website on my phone and they're not working there either, so I don't think it's my computer or browser (latest Chrome version if it matters).

Thumbs up button still not working for me.  Nor is the "open spoiler" button.

I updated Chrome this morning to the latest version.  Don't know what else to do.

Thanks

Me.  Not working here or on the off-topic board since yesterday.

What Broadway musicals have you seen in a foreign language?
 Sep 1 2025, 04:34:20 PM

1991 in Amsterdam, my brother and I saw Sweet Charity.  I didn't know the show that well, but it didn't matter - it was still wonderful.  We were wondering how Hey Big Spender would sound in Dutch.  We needn't have wondered - it was the only line not translated.  So if you're interested, it seems Hey Big Spender is the same in English and Dutch.  ;-)

Kennedy Center Attacking Journalists, Time for the National Theatre?

I think it's time for the National Theatre to step up as the new home to theatre in DC. Maybe they'll hire Jeffrey Finn too.
"

I'm sorry, but it's not about the National not "stepping up."  They've booked more than double the amount of weeks next year already and the number of shows in the subscription plus shows that can be added to the sub have greatly increased.  The Nederlanders are booking the theatre now, and I'm guessing they know what they're doing, but there's no way all the shows that dropped the KenCen can just go across town.  Tours are booked to the specs of each theatre and the National isn't as big as the Opera House, so a show like Hamilton can't just go somewhere else without a bunch of stuff happening first.

I worked there for a long time and I'm just a little sensitive when folks don't really get how it all works.

Your first Broadway show?
 Aug 26 2025, 04:23:03 PM

First Broadway show - Chicago with Gwen and Chita.  The next day I saw The Wiz and A Chorus Line.

First live show (that I remember, anyway) was Snow White at Shady Grove Music Fair when it was still a tent, sometime in the mid-60s when I was in elementary school.

4 Shows/3 Days

I thought it was a fantastic exhibit and I wish it was still going to be on view when I'm next in the city in November.  One of the many fine exhibits there that made me join even though I don't live in NY.

The Dining in Transit exhibit was also interesting and fun.

Audience rewards missing points requests

If you click on the down arrow to the right of your points total and then click on My Account, there should be a list of some sort.  You can filter it for time period, but even if I choose All Time, it only goes back through this year.

I just transferred most of my points to Amtrak (a partnership they discontinued last week - of course)

Tony Award-Winning PARADE Revival On Tour

I had no intention of seeing this to begin with, but now I'm considering it.  It's exactly the type of show he'd hate, and it will help support my family and friends who work there.  And since it was booked before he crashed the joint... maybe.

GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK To Air On CNN 6/7

sppunk said: "The pic quality and sound is a TON better on Max compared to CNN (at least watching on YTTV … and I have a fiber network)."

I had the opposite happen - we were watching Max (since I was worried that events may cause CNN to interrupt the broadcast) and Max was glitching a lot.  So we just went to CNN and it was so much better.

The production gave anyone who felt they couldn't perform that night permission to not perform.  So no one is calling out on a whim.

Stephen Pasquale to star in NINE at Kennedy Center

I have an extra ticket for the matinee tomorrow (row T, center orch) that I will happily exchange for a twenty dollar bill (or 2 tens, or 4 fives (which are good for hotel tips) ).  If anyone is interested, let me know.
