He tells a very interesting story in his show about his experience doing Guys & Dolls and how a lot of the theatre community was really against an all-Black production. People would call the box office to buy tickets and be told the show was sold out, but the theatre would be at half-capacity. Sad. 

If Playbill was smart, they’d offer these for purchase online similar to their Opening Night Playbills.

There’s a great recording of his solo show Page by Page, where he talks about his life and career and sings quite a bit as well. 

Did anyone hear any reports from the first preview? I'm a big fan of Alaska and this sounds like such a fun, campy, fluffy time. 

I of course want everything about this production to be perfect and successful…but I just think the semantics of that title number will be different at 9:30 PM on a Saturday in October than at 3:30 PM on a Wednesday in June. 

I cannot stop watching that clip. I am so excited for this show. Sunset has been one of my favorite musicals for many, many years, but I can also acknowledge there has been some really clunker productions, but I’m so jazzed that a version is running now that people are LOVING. 

I’m so intrigued to see how this is gonna work per se on a matinee day when it’s a tourist heavy time in NYC. Americans can be a different kind of breed when it comes to decorum and proper behavior, so I can already see this going left quickly many different ways, but when it works perfectly, must be thrilling! 

This website is wild. In what real life conversation would someone express to you that they were excited about being able to still get a Playbill and your next statement to them is a hard and accusatory “why” and a swift statement about how they advertise **** you don’t need? And if you do interact with people in real life like that, I can certainly understand why you’re a frequent flyer here who feels comfortable spreading their wings 🙄

I work for Ensemble Arts Philly and we had Playbills for Les Mis, which is part of our 24/25 Season 🤷🏼‍♂️

I gave this a complete listen and loved it! The orchestra sounds fabulous and I loved getting some dynamics in the Carousel Waltz I wasn’t used to hearing. My biggest gripe was the person playing Nettie is clearly a singer and not a great actress, but that is so inconsequential on something like this. I’m actually teaching a lecture on Carousel in a few weeks so this was a nice familiarization.

Thank god somebody finally had the sense to say this. How can you change the “setting” of a show that doesn’t have a defined “setting”? You’re trying to tell me the concept of this show is Rose is only interested in breaking into the Vaudeville circuit in Louisiana? Doubtful. 

I’d honestly be shocked if Sutton was nominated period. I have a feeling Mattress will be heavily overlooked come Tony time beyond Michael Urie. I think it’s going to be a healthy battle between Audra and Nicole. 

Some people have humility, understanding, compassion, thoughtful opinions and education. And Broadway Flash has access to Wi-Fi. 

I've heard that Mackenzie Kurtz is playing Jovie. I would LOVE to get Beth Leavel back on Broadway re-creating her Emily. 

I assume Caroline will be the option when Mandy and Nicole are out or when Nicole takes time off, the ladies will alternate in the role? But I assume in a normal performance week, it’ll be 7 Nicoles and 1 Mandy. 

Eh. Whomever is taking over probably begins rehearsals on the 16th, so it would make sense to announce them that Thursday. I'm sure it's all been set in stone for quite some time and this show doesn't need to drum up business far in advance like others I'm sure.  

Y'all are wild lol. Does anyone here actually enjoy going to see Broadway shows anymore
