Any updates on the rumors of the production being restaged either in LA or in London (back at the Savoy?) to be filmed?

I don’t think this is a smart move because then it cheapens the live experience of the cinematography used in a meta theatrical way.

Also, any SUNSET filming would likely kill a potential true film of the musical itself (which many have clung to as Glenn Close’s last hope for an Oscar)

A filmed version wouldn't be the same, but I'd love for it to happen, if only for access. I have family that would love to see it but can't fly to New York.

And I don't think a feature film of Sunset is happening, with it without Close. But she stays booked and busy and I think she will have plenty of chances for that Oscar in the next five years (more likely in supporting).

If this production won’t tour I would love for it to be filmed even if the title song isn’t as exciting in a filmed version. The Albert Hall performance was still pretty neat to watch on film. I just think if they were going to film it they would have done so already in London.

I will always support any theatre being filmed. Imagine a world without those Sondheim recordings. It has the power to truly change lives and minds, especially kids. That 13 year old in Indiana needs this to be filmed.

I doubt it. Paramount is probably the biggest hurdle in filming any production of this show.

People who are probably desperate for this to happen: Nicole Scherzinger, Jamie Lloyd, Jonathan Groff

People who are probably not desperate for this to happen: Glenn Close

"Oh, what a beautiful day" Glenn Close was heard saying when asked if she would be going to the premiere.

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

Why would Groff care?

Exactly. There is no way I would be here posting on this forum if it weren't for the taping of 'Sunday in the Park with George' (I recognise many likely wish I never watched it in hindsight LOL).
