Avenue Q For Now Lyric Change?  Jan 19 2017, 12:43:14 PM

Clearly not the same as NYC, but I am playing Lucy/Mrs. Thistletwat/Moving Box in a local production that is opening this Friday. The plan was always to say "Donald Trump" on our opening night since it falls on Inauguration Day and use a local politician's name the rest of the run, but in the end we decided to stick with Trump. It always gets a chuckle any time anyone not familiar with the song sits in on a rehearsal.

Why am I thinking of that song, "Intermission Talk," from Me and Juliet, because of this thread? Hmmm...

Miss Saigon movie?  Mar 11 2016, 12:56:33 PM

I've always thought Miss Saigon would do very well on film.

The Official 2015 Tony Awards Viewing Party Thread  Jun 7 2015, 09:12:33 PM

Well that was good. I saw the Fun Home performance on The View and didn't really like it, but this was impressive.

Oh heck yes Christian Borle and Annaleigh Ashford!!!!

And Misty Copeland looked beautiful.

Was a bit underwhelmed by The King and I performance.

Y'know, at this point, given that she's won two of the big awards for doing so, I'm starting to think Helen Mirren is the Queen better than the Queen is. :-p

Also..."A Musical" was cute. Will have to go pre-order the OBCR now.

Mid-show standing ovations  Jun 7 2015, 11:42:12 AM

When I saw Jersey Boys on tour in New Orleans in January 2013, "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" got a standing ovation. First time I had ever seen a mid-show standing ovation, and it was very much worth it. I stood too (no mean feat given my right ankle was in a full cast due to surgery a few weeks prior).

New Orleans will announce this coming Friday. All I can say is FINALLY.
2015-2016 touring seasons - Equity or Not  Feb 22 2015, 11:41:53 PM
Since Carnival/Mardi Gras is now behind us, I'd be willing to bet New Orleans will announce soon, if not this week. They tend to wait til after the news buzz surrounding Carnival dies down and newsworthy stories are slim to get the maximum amount of attention.
NPR Wants "Follies" for the next live tv musical...  Jan 26 2015, 08:05:36 PM
Apologies if this has already been posted, but I just heard this feature on NPR and thought it might be fun to see what everyone thought. I'd say a good chunk of it is tongue in cheek, but given how much love "Follies" gets around here (and deservedly so)...discussion?

Aren't they ALL still around, though?
2015-2016 touring season  Jan 7 2015, 10:46:01 PM
"Someone said Avenue Q & The Little Mermaid are FOR SURE touring... I highly doubt it."

That'd be me. I was right about Cabaret touring before the official announcement was made and I know those two shows are definitely touring as well. PM'd you about it, remember?
