re: Smoking at Little Mermaid?!
 Jan 22 2008, 01:13:44 AM
It was probably Tyler...

And honestly the only reaction I have is a huge: So? He's a grown ass man...If he wants to have a cig, it's not that big of a deal.

"Mereb is black, right?"

Go look up some of the videos of this show on Youtube...It seems like he's white or Latino in 9/10 of them...

I know when my school did Aida, he was Hawaiian.

re: Yes, movie musicals are back but......

The answer is simple.

Michael Bay needs to team up with Andrew Lloyd Webber to create:

Transformers-The Rock Opera.

re: Sweeney Film... why cut the songs?
 Dec 24 2007, 12:10:53 AM
Aside from The Ballad Of Sweeney Todd, the only cut I REALLY was wishing they'd have included was the Judge's version of 'Johanna.' Partially just because I wanted more of Alan Rickman.
re: What movie would make a GREAT musical?
 Dec 24 2007, 12:06:06 AM
I'd love to see either The Nightmare Before Christmas or Corpse Bride re-imagined as a stage show. Corpse Bride would probably be easier, but TNBC would be awesome visually(I imagine someone like Julie Taymor would have a field day with that one).

Also...

-The Mask Of Zorro

-Cruel Intentions

-Mean Girls

-From Hell

-Beetlejuice

-Sleeping Beauty

-Jawbreaker

-Hercules

-The Flight Of Dragons(If they could find

I'm a massive Johnny Depp fan, a huge Tim Burton fan, and a fan of the musical it's based on(I overplay the recording with Angela Lansbury and Len Cariou to the point of exhaustion)...So I went into this thing with my expectations sky high, and was it as good as I was hoping? Hell. Yes.

The whole cast was terrific. Johnny Depp was a perfect mix of psychotic but emotional, and even charming at times. Helena Bonham Carter did a damn fine job. Alan Rickman was on the ball(But honestly now

At this moment right now I'm obsessing over the Sweeney Todd movie soundtrack...
re: '...The HELL?!' moments in productions

One of my non-graduated friends was in my old high school's version of Jesus Christ Superstar just last month...

Well when they finally got around to the King's musical number...He came out wearing a gold speedo-not kidding-a gold cape, gold sandals, and a ton of gold chains, with his hair spiked up to unnatural heights-and sprayed gold, along with tons of gold eye make-up and lipstick. I was sitting there thinking, "What the hell is that?"

It took me until like halfway throug

"Ursula still does the same now, except she's not as obvious with wanting the shell to save her life. Her death is a lot more dramatic than it was, too.

There aren't any really big changes to be honest. A couple of costumes have been re-designed, and I Want the Good Times Back now features more eels, but nothing really major has changed."

So what happens with her death now? Because when I saw it(the first preview in Denver) it was just Ariel smashing the shell, then Flotsam &

re: how many Union Jobs are affected by the strike of 355 stage hand jobs ?
 Nov 24 2007, 01:58:55 PM
"The whole idea is that they are showing just how important they are and why they should have a fair contract... because broadway can't go on without them..."

Actually, it could. It could go on just as easily with NON-UNION employees...

re: Thoughts to Resolve the Stagehands Strike
 Nov 24 2007, 07:25:30 AM
Get Michael Clarke Duncan to mediate.

By mediate, I mean stand outside the door, and if anyone attempts to leave without settling this gotdamn thing, he throat-punches them, drags 'em back inside, and sits their ass back down.

re: ENCHANTED - references to classic disney animated musicals
 Nov 23 2007, 04:31:05 PM
One that I haven't seen yet...

When dragonized Narissa fell off the skyscraper, she grabbed onto a piece of the building's architecture, which broke off and she fell to her death, kinda like Frollo in The Hunchback...

Yes to Jim Sturgess...

Keep Evan Rachel Wood away from it.

re: BROADWAY CANCELLED THROUGH 25 NOVEMBER
 Nov 18 2007, 11:28:00 PM
Disney needs to just pressure the stagehands into submission already. Honestly now, what's the point of having that much power in the entertainment industry if you're not going to abuse it?

It has both versions of 'Sweet Child'...And that makes me one happy ass camper.

Also, I hope and pray that 'Ursula's Incantation' is 'Poor Unfortunate Souls...'

re: Say 'Sweeney Todd' hits it big at the box office....
 Nov 2 2007, 02:46:34 PM
If Sweeney Todds a hit, I think we'll be seeing Jekyll & Hyde being put on the fast track. Not a Sondheim show, but it's another dark show that I imagine a studio would put out to try an capitalize on Sweeney Todd's success...
