OPERATION MINCEMEAT Previews Mar 17

Totally unrelated to the show itself, but I'm really curious about the front row situation. I saw the Saturday matinee from the front row and it was right up against the stage (with no legroom and with the stage above eye level). I'd also sat in the front row the second time I saw Prima Facie and don't remember it being anything like this, with a comfortable gap from the stage. Did Prima Facie remove a row or two of seats, or is the position of the stage variable?

GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS 2025 Previews Mar 11
2025, 09:28:29 AM
I was at last night's preview. I was most excited to see Bob Odenkirk and Michael McKean from being a fan of their work in Better Call Saul, and curious to see how Kieren Culkin would play a role I strongly associate with Al Pacino (the film is the only version I've seen).
I thought the show was in great shape. Odenkirk was a standout for me, channeling the desperation and showmanship he mastered in BCS. I wish McKean had more to work with. I wasn’t familiar at all with B

Do You Collect Broadway Props? Mar 7
2025, 12:32:51 AM
I have a few items I've picked up from the Broadway Flea, the most interesting being one of the notebooks Reeve Carney writes in during Hadestown. It must've been used across multiple shows, because the entire notebook is filled with writing from different pens. It's all mostly lyrics from the show, musical note sequences, and massive blocks of "LaLaLaLaLaLaLaLa"s.

ENGLISH Previews Jan 11

I saw this last night and loved everything about it! I found it to be a beautiful slice of life piece that was excellently written and performed. The humor came very naturally. It's easy to get cheap laughs out of things lost in translation, but the writing brought something fresh to that concept without feeling crass, and threw in some fun cultural references. I even marveled at the lighting and liked the transition music (reminds me of Ravel's piano work). The final scene was e

GilmoreGirlO2 said: "[...] The highlight of my experience were the new bathrooms in the renovated theatre – I’d say best bathrooms on Broadway!" My experience was the opposite! I was sitting in the orchestra and was kind of shocked at the narrow staircase leading down to a very cramped and chaotic queue for the inadequately-sized bathroom. It looked as if no consideration had been given to expanding that bathroom or making crowd flow more efficient.

MAYBE HAPPY ENDING. BREAK A LEG Oct 30
2024, 12:55:40 AM
I really enjoyed this last night! I loved the set design and all the inventive movement that never became tired or gimmicky - it was a visual feast that surprised throughout. I found the music to be pleasant and perfectly matched the endearing charm of the story. I suppose one could accuse of it being too mellow, but I found that big, showy numbers weren't necessary.

I'd be curious to hear the rationale for posting snarky Andrew Rannells photos? I really can't imagine what he would have brought to the table that would have salvaged any facet of this. If anything, this is career kryptonite and he dodged a bullet in detaching himself from the Broadway run.

MCC's 'SH!T. MEET. FAN.' Cast Announced Oct 17
2024, 12:27:33 AM
I was disappointed with this. While it was fun to see the cast and the mayhem that followed from the core concept, it felt very slight and sitcom-like. I found some of Frank's plot too convoluted considering how shallow the work was in general. There was a scene with some dated language that came across as more of a cheap shock tactic and less of a substantive commentary. When the piece abruptly pivoted to an Afterschool Special Message, I couldn't help but be reminded of "White Girls in Danger"

Scherzinger in SUNSET BLVD. Previews Oct 2
2024, 12:49:48 AM
Saw this Tuesday night and think Skip23's post nicely syncs up with my reaction. Also detracting from my experience was that the lyrics weren't audible for me for much of the show (I was seated in center orch E), and I had to furiously read the Wikipedia synopsis at intermission to make sense of it. I will say that I was impressed with how crisp and vivid the video wall was from up close, and I liked many of the compositions and play of light in the live footage.

Retro Playbill Covers to be distributed at every Broadway show in October, for company's 140th anniversary Oct 1
2024, 11:29:01 AM
Anyone have any sense of how will these be distributed? I suppose we'll find out soon but I'm curious if it's one design per performance, all available each performance but given out randomly, or if there's some choice involved.

OUR TOWN Previews Sep 27

I saw yesterday's matinee. For me, this fell completely flat and lifeless. Boredom and restlessness set in during the first two acts and marred what little payoff remained in the third. I was irritated by Parsons hamming it up and scoring easy laughs, and didn't find the rest of the cast syncing up convincingly. The set was unpleasant to stare at for the duration of the play, with an expanse of gnarled wood grain that looked filthy, evoking sewage and camouflaging the other set pieces strewn abo

GWYNETH GOES SKIING - Satiric Musical based on Paltrow lawsuit to premiere in London Sep 14
2024, 11:06:00 PM
I saw this (the production Huss417 posted the trailer for) at the Fringe and wound up walking out about 30 minutes into it. It leaned too heavily on the same handful of jokes (that weren't witty or clever enough to deserve being done to death) and grew tiresome, especially after having seen their Diana one from last year.

I saw this on Tuesday. (fairly spoiler-free comments) Click Here To Toggle Spoiler Content I found the play itself to have a more nuanced take on AI than the handful of others I'd seen recently, but abandoned too many ideas and left too much unresolved by its abrupt end. Tonally, it felt a bit strange: from what little information was offered about the
