Derek Hough will star in Singin' In The Rain

I believe in this production, Dora will also be the diction coach for "Moses Supposes" instead of having two characters in such small parts.

I missed this during the original announcement, but apparently Daniel Crossley has been cast has Cosmo Brown and Jennie Dale as Dora Bailey. Both appeared in the Theatre du Chatelet production. Crossley also played Cosmo in the West End revival in 2012.

Here's part of the "Moses Supposes" performance last night:

Already looks pretty good.

He performed two scenes from the show at the Weinstein Oscar party last night. I only saw a short clip, but his singing sounded pretty good to me. I have no clue about his acting but his dancing is obviously good as well. Hopefully the performances will be released in full later on. I also read somewhere that he's done with being a pro on Dancing with the Stars so that basically gives him a year to improve on his performance/prepare for the show if it opens in January next year.

This looks more like a promotion show featuring the most popular yet not necessarily great performers (besides Sir Elton John, Helen Mirren, Harrison Ford, Dick Van Dyke and a few others) than an actual quality Disneyland Anniversary celebration but I'll tune in to see how it is I suppose!

Did not have high expectations for this but I actually really enjoyed it! Most of the casting was good. I was dreading Julianne Hough as Sandy but was pleasantly surprised by her performance.

What's with the hatred of Cats?
 Jan 21 2016, 09:07:00 PM

I can understand why some people hate it but I enjoyed it. Definitely not my favorite show of all time but I can think of much worse shows that could on Broadway right now. Some people like it and some don't. It's just a matter of preference I guess

ABC hops onboard: Network will present 3-hour DIRTY DANCING event; Abigail Breslin to star

Former Dancing with the Stars pro Henry Byalikov auditioned for the role of Johnny yesterday:

If he gets the role, I'm guessing this will be a huge flop as he hasn't acted in a thing in his life. Actually, I'm betting this will be terrible with whoever is casted as Johnny. I mean, Abigail Breslin as Baby? Why???

Tony Yazbeck replacing Matt Morrison

Singin' in the Rain doesn't open till the Fall, or at least that's when they are planning to.

I was thinking the same thing. How could Weinstein know who Yazbeck is and not cast him in Singin' in the Rain? I am happy Tony is going to be in Finding Neverland though. Hoping Yazbeck replaces Hough in SITR when Hough's run in the show is done (if it even lasts that long)

Harvey Weinstein to Bring SINGIN' IN THE RAIN to Broadway!

I also came across a live recording of him singing Falling Slowly from a few years ago. I don't really think we have to worry about his singing.

Regardless of how well he sings or acts the part, I just can't imagine him as Don Lockwood. I could possibly see him as Cosmo though.

There are quite a few videos of him in Footloose in the West End on YouTube:

My first reaction to this was "Oh no, not another reality star on Broadway!" For me, Tony Yazbeck would be the most obvious choice for the lead role. However after doing some research I found out that Derek graduated from a Theatre School in England and made his West End debut at age 20 in the lead role in Footloose the Musical in 2006. So maybe this won't be a total disaster after all if he is indeed cast in SITR.

"

Update: Derek just said on his FB page that he is headed to Paris to see a play which is where the current Production is running that will transfer to Broadway in the Fall. So I guess that pretty much confirms that.
