ALL IN: COMEDY ABOUT LOVE Reviews Dec 30

Jordan Catalano said: "I won’t say I hated this tonight but I REALLY disliked it. The audience all around me started out riotously laughing at every word then after about 20 mins just chuckled and laughed some. Other parts of the house were LOUD with laughter throughout so it was an odd thing. However at curtain call everyone immediately jumpedto their feet screaming and cheering, maybe some to justify the money they had spent.
Walking home, I realized this is the ki

ALL IN: COMEDY ABOUT LOVE Previews Dec 13
2024, 12:38:38 PM
I bought a ticket for around $200 and planned a day to come in from Rhode Island, and I'm pretty disappointed that it's essentially a staged reading. I love John Mulaney and Oh, Hello! was one of my favorite shows I've seen on Broadway so I was so excited for this! Obviously will still see it, but at these prices they really couldn't AT LEAST be off-book? Or move around a bit?

MAYBE HAPPY ENDING Reviews Nov 14

VotePeron said: "A chamber musical about robots falling in love has to be one of the hardest sells there is. People want big escapism at the theater right now. I am so burned out on AI and technology that even as a seasoned theater goer I feel like I’ll be dragging myself to see this. The only thing intriguing about it is the raves."
I felt the same way until I saw it tonight, it's not really revolved around the fact that they're robots. Obviously it

SWEPT AWAY brilliant direction? Nov 13
2024, 11:16:05 PM
This was one of my must-sees until these early reviews started pouring in - I almost didn't see it, but got a rush ticket for tonight last minute and I have to say I'm glad I did.
Was this amazing? Was this incredibly moving? Was this a triumph of theater? No, but I enjoyed it all the same. Suprisingly, I only found myself bored during 10-15 minutes of this show, and I'm someone who (sadly) gets bored very easily. The songs were fine, I thought as far as jukebox musicals go

CABARET at the Kit Kat Club (2024) Opening Night Critics' Reviews Aug 17
2024, 05:51:56 PM
Don't have much tos hare about the show itself, but I wanted to share a wild experience I had today. At the matinee of Cabaret today I was seated between an older man on my left and a younger man on my right. During the first act the older man to my left, who appeared to be with his family, took out his phone and started scrolling. Don’t get me wrong, I HATE when people are on their phones, but generally I don’t want to cause a scene so I didn’t say anything. The man to

ONCE UPON A MATTRESS Reviews Aug 16
2024, 03:25:52 PM
I really enjoyed this last night. I've been in the show twice so I know it pretty well and enjoyed the little changes they made, lots of little jokes that I chuckled at. Is this a must see? No, but it's a good time - Just like with Spamalot, Michael Urie stole the show from me! He's such a cutie.

Jason Robert Brown, Taylor Mac, Rob Ashford collaborating on MIDNIGHT IN THE GARDEN OF GOOD AND EVIL musical adaptation Jul 24

Caught this last night - Didn't really like it. I knew the basic plot of the book but have never read it or seen the movie.
Let's start with the things I enjoyed: Ghee, it goes without saying, is incredible. Great comedic timing from them, and some genuinely funny one-liners as well. The idea of the audience being the author was really cool, I think it's a great way for them to sort of "overexplain" some plot points to make the plot clearer. I want to go against t

Hilty & Simard to lead DEATH BECOMES HER in Chicago spring 2024 May 29

Saw this last night and enjoyed it, but it didn't blow me away.
I've never seen (or even heard of before buying tickets) the movie, so I don't know the references and everything, but as people have said, this show is a lot of fun. The book has some great one-liners, which is refreshing after the disastrous cringey stuff that adaptions like Tootsie and Beetlejuice are passing off as jokes (IMO).
The music, unfortunately, didn't do it for me. Thinking ba

Well, the defense seems to be "Removing everything deeply relevant to the world and time we are living in, everything meaningful or creatively exciting from one of the greatest and most widely-read American novels ever and treating the audience like absolute idiots, is just supposed to be FUN. Why can't something just be FUN?" Because terrible, cynically assembled musicals a

Jordan Catalano said: "I am NOT a fan of modern dance. It's just not my jam. I can appreciate it for what it is but it's not something I've ever been able to get into. So going into this tonight I was happy it was only 90 mins - in and out and then I'll have seen everything this season. As we stood up, my friend asked if I was ok. I guess I had been audibly sobbing, my face totally wet. I haven't been moved by something to this degree in quite a while. And like I

Jordan Catalano said: "I went to the matinee today and noticed Jeremy seems to be doing an accent now? But not a consistent one and it’s kind of odd. British one minute, then something else then nothing. I don’t think I’d ever noticed him doing anything like that before in the show."
Oh god...If I see this am I going to get flashbacks to Colton Ryan in "NYNY"? Because I can't handle that again.
