I like to ask this at the end of the season & now that the 2023-2024 season is officially over - what was your favorite original song of the year?
I’m still trying to decide but for me, on Broadway it might be “Great Expectations” from The Outsiders.
Off-Broadway, hands down it’s the final song from “I Love You So Much I Could Die”. I’m still praying Mona Pirnot releases an EP with the music from that.

"My Days" from Notebook just nudges out "Great Expectations" in my book, but they're my top two for sure.
"Waiter's Song" from Here We Are is one I haven't stopped thinking about as well.

Keep Marching - which I have a feeling we'll be hearing from high school choirs for years to come.

Terribly sorry that this doesn’t answer the question of favorite original song, but my favorite song moment from any production this season is “Our Time” in Merrily. Over this entire season, that moment, that scene, that song is the most singularly perfect piece of musical theatre. It’s profoundly stirring and truly touched me to my core.
Rachel Bay Jones singing "What a perfect day..." in the opening song of Here We Are
Forgiveness from Days of Wine and Roses or The Soldier’s Song from Here We Are🤔
Going with Days of Wine and Roses but might change my mind once I’m blasting the Here We Are cast album on repeat

This is a tough one but I have to say it’s a tie between The Soldier’s Song from Here We Are and Here Lies Love (I know it technically was off Broadway forever ago, but it was my first time hearing it in the Broadway production).
“There Go I” from Days of Wine and Roses

I haven’t heard every new song from this season, but mine so far are Like It Was from Merrily and Run Run Brother from The Outsiders.

I think it has to be Great Expectations but I'd like to throw in Speed from Lempicka and the Past is Catching Up to Me from Gatsby as contenders.
I know, I know! I'm choosing with my heart, and my knowledge of current new Broadway songs is extremely limited, but this moment in the show gives me all the feels.

“Bright” from Stereophonic
“The Only One” from Walk On Through
Funny, I didn’t even think of Off-Broadway when starting this. Updated my answer!
This is so hard! Some of my favorites are I Wanna Go Back and My Days from The Notebook, God Draws Straight and Just Ask Flowers from Here Lies Love, Where You Go from Harmony, Woman Is from Lempicka, and, of course, Bright and Masquerade from Stereophonic.
I think maybe Bright takes it.
Leave the Light On and My Days - The Notebook
Woman Is - Lempicka
Also, as much as I did not like Hell's Kitchen, I won't deny that Kaleidoscope is an absolute bop.

I LOVED the harmony when they all sang the words "Great Expectations" Combined with the staging and the lighting it was a stunning moment(s). But I couldn't hum a verse to save my life.
I would pick the Stereophonic songs,

“My Days” from THE NOTEBOOK is the first song I’ve heard from a new musical this season that I immediately wanted to hear again and again.

"Shine" - Here We Are
Funny enough, Sondheim's lyrics always gave us both.
