DEATH BECOMES HER Previews Oct 26

There are some understudy performances that have stuck with me:
Andrea Goss as Sally Bowles
Alison Cimmet as The Princess Puffer
Stephanie Umoh as Trina (second cover AND went on at the last minute in early previews with book in hand and brought the house down during "I'm Breaking Down". )
And I am happy to add Kaleigh Cronin as Madeline Ashton to that list. She was simply sensational and her chemistry with Simard was off the cha

Hi Folks,
I'll be seeing a an 8 pm Friday night performance of DEATH BECOMES HER with a group of nine people. We were hoping to do dinner AFTER the show but it looks like most of the places I'm seeing in the theater district don't take reservations that late.
Anyone have any suggestions for good post-evening show restaurant or bar that would take a reservation and at least does small plates/appetizers? I haven't done a night out like

BUT. Y'all this cast is on FIRE. The main quartet is just pure magic, delivering some of the fiercest vocals on Broadway right now. I do wish the production itself was more lavish, but I had a ball and would buy tickets to see these actor

What's this? Any context to be shared here?"
I've edited this out of my post as I can no longer find the Insta story posts in question. I remember a few weeks ago there were ensemble members posting Insta stories being posted about how they felt like they weren't being heard/being mi

I'm speechless. I'll start with the good, because the good is GOOD.
It's an exceptional, hard working company that is putting their all out there (save two principals). Nichelle Lewis and Melody Betts walk away with the show, and they are joined by a company that is working what they have been given to give Broadway worthy performances.
The book revisions by Amber Ruffin are 10/10 and her one liners hit just as hard as they did in Some

THE GREAT GATSBY Broadway Previews Apr 6

Well you can add my voice to the chorus of folks who were pleasantly surprised by this. I think the highest compliment you can pay a show is "that was great" because it implies that all of the elements came together to make a solid night of theater.
This is a case of the material, performances, physical production, etc. all meshing beautifully together to create a solid night of Broadway musical entertainment.
I enjoyed myself and this might just be my new

DOUBT 2024 Previews Feb 25

I caught this one this past Thursday and thought it was a competent production of a fantastic play.
My take is that Amy Ryan was leading from a place of fear instead of a place of anger. When Father Flynn was alone with her, I really thought she believed she was in the presence of Satan. This is a woman who has spent her whole life taking orders from the patriarchal diocese, and now she's stepping out of line because she knows unspeakable evils are at work.

I caught this on Thursday having seen the first preview with the original cast; a couple months into the run with the original cast; and now Tveit/Foster.
Foster should have opened this production. Her Lovett is dynamic and is a clear psycopath who presents as warm and funny when really she'll kill anyone who stands between her and what she wants. I can honestly say she's now my second favorite Lovett right behind Lansbury. I had adored Ashford both time

I think we're all forgetting that a first performance for a replacement is all about survival and standing in the right place at the right time. Most actors I've seen interviewed about replacing seem to describe the first night experience as a complete blur where their colleagues gave them "shoves of love" to make sure they get to the curtain call.

I was going to ask why they hate her. Is it actually just because Beetlejuice had to close to make w

I would encourage anyone who is taking the time to engage in this conversation that's not going anywhere to instead utilize their valuable time to read up on TransNewYork and the different services and opportunities that are available to trans and gender non-conforming individuals in NYC.
Donate your time, money, and energy to engage with the LGBTQ+ community in a meaningful way.
Fighting with strangers on a Broadway message board ain't gonna change a damn thing.

The two times I saw it live it was accompanied by a light cue so I've assumed it's supposed to be the sound of industrial light fixtures turning on? IDK.

Initial Cast Set for Peter Pan National Tour With Revised Book by Larissa FastHorse Aug 19

My very first professional theater experience was seeing Cathy Rigby at the Garden back in 2005. I have the A&E produced VHS of the tour's run at the La Miranda Theatre and, during the overture, my mother had to VERY QUICKLY cover my mouth and instruct me that I was not allowed to sing along to the overture (good parenting).
I'm hopeful that this tour will be the first live, professional theater experience for many, many children and for that alone I am happy. :)

Watching it I thought it was a story that sings, and I would love to see an up and coming team take a crack at it with an veteran director like Tina Landau at the helm.
