Such a random choice. I'm putting money on it now that at some point she will be harnessed and lowered down at Radio City. :)

Well look at that, the Tonys just pulled a bait-and-switch.
Guess Erivo found her schedule right now to be too taxing.

Love Pink, a bit of a surprise choice. I guess it means that the Tony Awards will literally do anything if it means potentially more attention to themselves. Well, if that's what needs to be done then so be it.

Incredible choice. The question is... what songs will she perform?

If you gave me 200 guesses as to who they would choose as host, I would never have come up with Pink. It's random, but I do like her and she's extraordinarily talented, she can create a killer opening number and hopefully get more folks than usual to tune in. So, great I guess!
Does this mean we get her performing alongside & Juliet cast on the telecast? The inclusion of "F**kin Perfect" in that musical is her only real tie to Broadway I believe. And the show could certainly use a shot in the arm to rescue it from a fall closing given their recent grosses.

I’d put money on a brand-new Pasek and Paul song for the opening number.

Although P!nk did recently cover for Kelly Clarkson on her talk show last month with a week's worth of episodes dedicated to Broadway.

Love this! Watch her segments on Kelly Clarkson- her daughter is a huge musical theater person and this is very much connected to Greatest Showman. There are still rumors of her hosting a NY-based talk show ha if she doesn’t take over the Spbere (whether Kelly or other) and I imagine she would have many Broadway segments. It seems to be a strong love for her family.
There is a clear connection here, not random at all if you are paying attention.

Most ridiculous decision I have ever seen...what the hell does she have to do with Broadway...with decisions like these we can start engraving BEACHES on the Best Musical Trophy.

Wild choice but I do love her. I think she’ll do really well. Looking forward to it.

Ratings wise it doesn't really make sense. She has no personal tie to Broadway, unless she's going into something. It's a sign of the times that yet again the Broadway powers that be have absolutely no idea WTF they're doing.

They’re attempting to increase viewership. A host like Cynthia is great but she doesn’t intrigue the masses who aren’t devoted theatre goers like us. They hardly know who she is, if at all. P!NK is somebody with credibility and mass appeal who can get the ratings up. That’s the entire reason behind this decision.

Shocked, but I’m so here for this! Wouldn’t be too surprised if it coincided with a limited engagement of some musical.

Man, I hope this coincides with an announcement she’s coming to Broadway.

I don't know if this has anything to do with the new producers for this year's telecast or the new management in charge of Paramount (which owns CBS). If the latter, it certainly doesn't help that its CEO, David Ellison, happens to be an ally of Donald Trump.
Luckily, the Tonys' current contract with CBS is set to expire this year. If it doesn't get renewed, hopefully they'll get picked up by someone who'll treat them with great respect.

A surefire way to pull in better numbers for Broadway’s biggest commercial of the year.
she puts on a GREAT show so I’m hopeful.

Either the Tonys shift to YouTube or go the way of the Drama Desks.

Strange choice, and probably not the first choice, but I don't think it's a bad one! I don't think it hurts at all to have a very talented individual not associated with Broadway helping bring some attention to Broadway

Um totally unrelated to the topic but I just noticed when you copied my post that its posted from someone elses account....frogs_fan is not my account and I have no idea what is going on...so no one go after frogs_fan if you don't like the post.. they are innocent. Anyone know how this happens or how to get out of it and back to being me.....

Random, but if it ties into an announcement in the coming weeks that she really is taking over Kelly's show, it's a nice way to officially enter into new era of television work. Plus, aren't her songs featured in two shows?

Yeah, my first thought is that there must be some tie-in to something. Would love it if she announces that she is planning to do a show on Broadway.

It's hard to believe Pink hasn't done Moulin Rouge. The Lady Marmalade video was theatrical and showed she can work a costume. Not my first choice, but a good choice.

I know what they're trying to do. Pink is not a hot topic right now. They would've been better with Bob the Drag Queen or a Housewife. Those are names trending with younger viewers and have more followers. This is simply an odd choice.
