Broadway Flops you love that everybody else hates Mar 31

Bridges of Madison County for me. Saw it initially and really didnt like it. Ended up seeing it 4 more times including closing night and fell in love. Kelli OHara was astonishingly good. Feel like the show has alot of potential to be impactful in an intimate, in the round setting where the cast surrounds the action REALLY watching it and judging it. Maybe actor musicians too. The show has its fair share of issues but that score!!

Am I the only one that hates the new norm of dubbing cast recording vocals over b-roll video footage? The new Let Me Be Your Star video is clearly the vocal tracks in the promo released a few weeks back. Hate that. Give me the real unfiltered voices

Georgeanddot2 said: "This is such a mess of a show. Beautifully sung with a wonderful performance from Winningham, but this show is just so unbelievably shallow. The plot is oddly confusing for how simple it is. Took me a while to gather that they were in a bed and breakfast. I've never seen a show lack so much exposition while also being nothing but exposition. It's also shockingly ableist.
That point about the title basically sums up the show. Why is that there?

Saw this show last week...add me to the hate camp. What happened? I've never been more perplexed by glowing reviews before in my lifetime. The second act was more engaging than the first, but by that point I had already wished I packed my bags and went home. I don't get the hype (and I LOVE Bob Dylan).

Something similar happened recently with a production of ANNIE that I saw with anEmmy Award winning actress and musical comedy stage veteran in the role of Hannigan. It was very clear when I saw it that this actress was not able to sing the part. I had seen her pl

I saw this in London last week - an extreme disappointment. The review roundup on Playbill is spot on. Sophomoric, pompous, and drab. Can't imagine that they bring this to Broadway, especially after their review bloodbath.

All this talk of recouping on this thread...aside from official press releases, where do you all find this information? More so intrigued by the older shows; west side, follies, etc.

I was fortunate enough to see this last weekend and was truly mystified - it was a glorious production top to bottom. The Ogunquit team should be incredibly proud.
Has anyone else seen it?

GROUNDHOG DAY Previews Apr 4

I rushed today, arrived at 8:30am, and was 2nd in line. There were probably 15-20 people by the time the office opened at 10am. My seats were on the extreme sides in row C orchestra. Thats all the info I can help you out with.
I thought the show was good. 'Book of Mormon' lite, if you will. The humor is very contemporary and the full house audience ate every joke up. The staging is exceptionally complex, so special kudos to the cast and crew who had to move set piece

This is bad bad bad. If you're a theatre goer of meager financial means like I am, save your dough on this one. I almost left at intermission. Blankenbuelers staging and choreography rarely seem integrated into the tissue paper thin storyline. He gives us his best dazzle dazzle dance moves, but there is simply no masking the weak and frankly boring material.
I arrived at 8:45 this morning for rush and was the 11th person in line. There were at least 25-30 people by 10am

The show was sumptuous at Hartford. The costumes in particular are quite ornate.
I thought the show was in great shape last year - I'm really looking forward to this one.
