MTW's Little Mermaid Aug 7 2011, 12:24:53 AM
Just got back from seeing the show. It was *phenomenal*. Ursula's costume worked wonders. At times, it actually appeared like she was walking on her tentacles rather than her feet. She could also move her tentacles up and down kind of like when you strum your fingers when you're impatient. I'm assuming they had a string attached from her finger to the end of the tentacle, possibly. Whatever it was, it was a great effect. Desi Oakley was great as Ariel. Her voice was beautiful throughout the whol

2011- 2012 National Tours Feb 13 2011, 02:05:33 AM
Wichita just announced their 2011-2012 season. Rock of Ages, Young Frakenstein, Mamma Mia, Blue Man Group, and Lion King. It's unknown what dates Lion King will be here because the venue has to be renovated to accommodate the show. http://www.theaterleague.com/theaters/?id=8

Rob Reiner wants to make N2N Film Dec 3 2010, 12:03:34 PM
"Sarah Hyland is currently 20. I'm curious how that is not old enough to play the high school aged Natalie. She was also in both the Off-Broadway and Broadway runs of Grey Gardens, as well as various workshops, including Bye Bye Birdie and Shrek before she moved to L.A, so I would say singing in and of itself is not a problem. Whether or not her voice is right for the role is another question, of course." I had no clue she is 20! She seemed to be like, 14 to me. Guess she just plays th

Rob Reiner wants to make N2N Film Dec 3 2010, 08:37:01 AM
I think N2N would be a wonderful movie, if done right. The intimacy of the Booth Theatre made the show even more enjoyable and I'm sure that watching it in your own living room would still be an intimate experience. Diana: Duh, Alice. She won the "friggin" Tony Award for this role. However, does Alice make a good transition from stage to film and in such a major role? I know it can be difficult for some actors. Gabe: Lucas Gabriel. Fo sho. Henry: Adam Chanler-Beret (s

This is neat. I posted a few weeks ago on a thread here on BWW that I wanted to see a King Kong musical come to Broadway. Cool!

If I send Sutton Foster my Shrek Playbill, is it possible that she'll sign and return it?

Film Broadway Bootlegs Jul 6 2010, 03:44:58 AM
If it weren't for Bootlegs, I wouldn't have seen my first Broadway show. I saw lots of videos of it online and it made me more and more excited to see it. If there weren't bootlegs of it, I wouldn't have seen the show and they wouldn't have my money from buying a ticket.

re: The Lea Michele- Wicked Rumor Jun 17 2010, 02:02:14 AM
Crap! Thank you for pointing that out. Blonde moment! Apologies, Desiree and Marquise. My mistake! I have edited the original post. Thank you for pointing it out, singtopher.

re: The Lea Michele- Wicked Rumor Jun 17 2010, 01:28:10 AM
"If a WICKED movie ever actually happens and they go with younger 'name' stars, I assure you Lea Michele will certainly be in the running. I think she is certainly appropriate for the part and has become quite well known enough to take the role. " -desiree armfeldt I agree that she would definitely be in the running for that role. She is well-known (now because of Glee) so that would bring in more money and popularity, and since Elphaba ages during the show, could Idina Menzel als

Personal life of a Broadway performer May 19 2010, 05:14:40 PM
^If he saw things in this thread that he didn't like, he could have stopped reading. Sounds like he didn't. I don't have to defend myself and my position anymore. I asked a question regarding things that I wanted to know, and just because you guys know it already doesn't mean that it's okay to get all snappy about it. Getting up at 6 a.m., going to school, doing chores, doing homework, relaxing, then going to bed is what my day is like. Actors, it's different, and that's what

Personal life of a Broadway performer May 19 2010, 04:48:09 PM
If you hate it so much, then don't read it? Hey, there's a solution! Who'd a thunk :] You know, YOU guys may already know about the life of an actor. I DIDN'T, hence why I was asking. Did you know that sometimes, people may actually be interested in a profession and decide to ask someone in that profession what it's like? How about you guys grow up? I asked a logical question about something that I'm interested in, and I got my answer. If you don't like it, then you don't have

Personal life of a Broadway performer May 18 2010, 09:12:21 PM
Hello, Brooke! I wasn't sure if I should PM you or not, but it wasn't super important, so I just thought I'd put it here. You may know that MTI released the rights to Hairspray a few weeks ago. 3 high schools in Wichita (including my school) were interested in doing it. BTW, I live in Wichita. Anyway, One school backed out, and turns out, our director bought the rights to it yesterday and signed away! Come this November, we'll be performing Hairspray! Yay! Sad thing is, another high school in Wichita is doing it We'll totally beat them though I just think it's super cool that I'm doing a show where I have actually talked with an original Broadway cast member! This might be kind of a dumb question, but do you have any advice? We're starting rehearsals in August, with a performance in mid-November. We're already designing sets and what not. We are so psyched to be doing this! Also, do you know Matthew Shepard? Not the guy who was killed because of his sexuality, but the guy who was in Beauty and the Beast for years. I think he ended in 2004? He's going to be in a show this summer for Music Theatre of Wichita. I'm an apprentice there this summer, so I was just looking up cast members for fun and thought maybe you performed with him during your B&TB run.

MCG TO HELM SPRING AWAKENING MUSICAL MOVIE May 15 2010, 12:29:26 AM
Lea Michele, Chris Colfer, and Jonathan Groff definitely could not be in the same movie together. I'm sure it would just make people think it was a Glee-related movie. Obviously, it isn't, but I know for me, it would be hard to see that many Glee characters in a single movie together that is NOT Glee-related. It just wouldn't be believable to me. I know some people are going to disagree with me, but this is just my opinion. On the other hand, does anyone know if this will be a musical o

Avenue Q... without the Puppets... WTF? May 15 2010, 12:23:26 AM
I stopped it halfway through. It was that bad. How the hell is that a college? You'd think they'd be better than most high schoolers :/ Guess not. That set was ...Bad, to say the least. W/o the puppets, it's just weird.

Tom Felton as Ren in Footloose Remake? May 14 2010, 10:41:20 PM
Ah, Footloose, one of the worst movies of all time and a poorly-written musical to go along with it. Just scrap the whole idea completely.
