Can we please take a minute and enjoy this comment:
The movie would be a HUGE money maker and hit, and probably really good too if they cast as follows: Lea Michele as Wendla (she's the original and she's super huge now) Zach Efron as Melchior (who wouldn't pay to see Zach get naked with Lea - I think he could probably sing it too) Jonathan Groff as Moritz (even though he originated Melchior on stage - for screen he's more of a Moritz, he's getting really famous too and he's good, and he knows the part even though he never played it and would probably get an oscar nod if the movie was good)
None of the other parts really matter as much :o) But it would be cool if they got the other gay glee kid who plays Kurt to play the gay kid in the movie.
Here's to hoping the movie ends up being GREAT! It might work or it might be terrible.......... we'll see........."
All of them are too long in the tooth now to play teens...Maybe Chris {Kurt} could pull it off...even on GLEE, do any of them look like teenagers? Groff looks like he is in his 20's {which he is}....I think, IMO, this project is a bad idea.
The project isn't a bad idea. Not by a long shot. It has potential. It needs to be cast with talent that is essentially able to carry off the score and be believable. The actors don't necessarily have to be 14 years old.
They should just adapt the play and cast actual preteens. Maybe they could even direct themselves and/or form a tribe of some sort and accidentally or intentionally kill the fat kid.
My 8 year old niece is going to be thrilled with this news. She's a huge fan of the musical -- she saw the tour 3 times earlier this week here in Miami, Florida and saw the show twice before it closed on Broadway. She's definitely a character for only being 8 years old.
TnGuy-- that sounds like some of the worst casting ever. Really.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

"Set against the backdrop of a repressive and provincial late 19th century Germany,Spring Awakening tells the story of adolescent self-discovery and budding sexuality as seen through the eyes of three teenagers."
Who better to do that than the man who brought us Terminator Salvation and Charlie's Angels. And everyone thought the Spider-Man announcement was the scariest announcement today...

I think it could be a cool movie but I don't know how one can say this is will be a "huge money maker." The material is incredibly inaccessible to a large portion of the typical movie going audience.
Who are we kidding? This film is going to be populated with a Jonas Brother, iCarly, Miley, Taylor Lautner, Taylor Swift, Jordan Sparks, and other late teens who can be autotuned and actually look young. Meryl Streep and Jim Carrey will probably get the adult roles.
"The sexual energy between the mother and son really concerns me!"-random woman behind me at Next to Normal
"I want to meet him after and bang him!"-random woman who exposed her breasts at Rock of Ages, referring to James Carpinello
Lea Michele, Chris Colfer, and Jonathan Groff definitely could not be in the same movie together. I'm sure it would just make people think it was a Glee-related movie. Obviously, it isn't, but I know for me, it would be hard to see that many Glee characters in a single movie together that is NOT Glee-related. It just wouldn't be believable to me. I know some people are going to disagree with me, but this is just my opinion.
On the other hand, does anyone know if this will be a musical or not?
They may try to get Jonas Brother, iCarly, Miley, Taylor Lautner, Taylor Swift, Jordan Sparks, but I doubt any of them would want to be in this film. They (or their reps) will get the script, not understand a word, see that it isn't commercial in the least, and pass. This will be an art house movie. Or a studio film disguised as an art house and cater not to mass teen audiences but to the "award giving" crowd inside the industry. That is the only way they will get the public to pay attention to this film... if it has "Best Picture Nominee" or something in front of it.
