Re: Upcoming Scott Rudin projects

Aug 13, 2026 — 6:52:20 PM

Dylan Smith4 said: "Man, I still can't believe that some on here are supporting Rudin's producing work. It may be good quality, but you're still contributing to this horrid man who has no business being involved in the theatre scene anymore. You can call me out on this if you wish, but Rudin should have never been allowed to return."What exactly did he do? Bore off. Such woke nonsense. He's an incredible producer.

Kelli O'Hara is a birthright Sally in Follies. I dream of her doing this within the next 5-10 years. Lincoln Center? The Roundabout? Rudin? ...

Liza in GYPSY

Aug 12, 2026 — 4:59:21 AM

Liza was the first choice for a revival in the 1980s, as was Bette Midler. Neither wanted to do 8 shows a week, and then Tyne Daly was cast after she appeared on Dolly Parton's variety show as a trucker.

What about Audra's A Little Night Music, which was confirmed by Sondheim when he agreed to her Gypsy. Is that a Rudin project?

Why wasn’t Rebecca Luker nominated for her Maria in The Sound of Music?

Jun 25, 2026 — 5:11:39 AM

In the original production, the curtains parted and Mary Martin travelled down stage while perched on a tree branch. There, still and contemplative, she sang The Sound of Music, a hymn to nature and music. Listen to the original Broadway cast album and you'll hear how much she gets out of the song.

Lincoln Center Theater 2026-2027 Season

Jun 24, 2026 — 5:25:18 AM

What are people thinking in terms of what this production will look like/feel like? Comparing it to the 1994 Carousel, 2008 South Pacific and 2015 King & I. The Carousel came from London and had its own particular style/design; the SP and K&I had their own Bart Sher aesthetic, very traditional, very sumptuous and grand. Do you think this Sound of Music will follow suit, and follow the original book word for word, or will we see influence from the movie?

Why did Bernadette Peters win the Tony for Annie Get Your Gun?

Jun 11, 2026 — 9:58:16 AM

Also what is this about Sutton reviving Anything Goes yet again? Surely this is not happening... I know people dislike her on these boards and people also don't want another Gypsy but I am looking forward to Sutton's Roundabout Madame Rose in five years' time, to echo the LuPone-after-Peters production history from all those years ago.

Why did Bernadette Peters win the Tony for Annie Get Your Gun?

Jun 11, 2026 — 6:19:09 AM

Just going back to the mysterious lack of nomination for BP for ITW - is it possible that voters just didn't think she deserved the nom, the same way they snubbed her for Follies in 2012 (albeit it was the same year she was getting her special Tony so maybe that explains the Follies snub)? Joanna Gleason won the Featured Actress Drama Desk, and LuPone won the Lead Actress DD for Anything Goes. Then by Tony time, Gleason had been bumped up to Lead, upsetting the Patti train (she was guaranteed...

Why did Bernadette Peters win the Tony for Annie Get Your Gun?

Jun 9, 2026 — 6:13:10 PM

I was trawling through the Best Actress in a Musical Tony winners, and wondered why voters decided on Bernadette Peters as the 1999 winner for the revival of Annie Get Your Gun? As far as I'm aware that revival was not widely well received, although Peters was a Broadway treasure by that point. Looking at the other nominees, I'm surprised Carolee Carmello didn't get her due that year for Parade. Peters had won already for Song and Dance over ten years prior. Can anyone chime in and offer any ...

Show Boat Centennial

May 10, 2026 — 4:31:07 PM

Any update on these rumors of a LC Show Boat next year or is it dead? It'd be staggering if the show was not marked in some way - even a one night gala performance somewhere. But it seems late in the day with nothing being announced.

Jamie Lloyd on Evita coming to Broadway

Oct 1, 2025 — 4:34:05 AM

It should be noted that the last time Evita was on Broadway (2012), it competed alongside the revival of Jesus Christ Superstar and both were nominated for the Best Revival Tony. I don't see why it's such a big deal for ALW to have two of his shows on Broadway at the same time again.

Who will be the next Broadway Madame Rose?

Sep 26, 2025 — 10:12:42 AM

So, who will be the next Broadway Madame Rose? In the Audra/Gypsy thread, it got very sad and dark near the end with posters claiming we possibly won't see Gypsy on Broadway ever again or for decades to come because it never sells, other posters claiming we will only see it at non-for-profits going forward. I know she's controversial on these boards and in general, but I would not mind seeing Sutton Foster as the next Rose at somewhere like the Roundabout in ten years' time. It's a better fit...

A Raisin in the Sun 2004 vs 2014 revivals

Sep 13, 2025 — 6:22:09 AM

Kenny Leon directed both the 2004 and 2014 Broadway revivals of A Raisin in the Sun. I'm just looking back at articles, interviews, and awards coverage surrounding the 2014 production, and no one talks about how Leon directed both stagings. I didn't see either one - was the 2014 production a revival of the 2004 staging or were they completely different? I see that the 2004 production was nominated for the Best Revival Tony, and the 2014 won the award. Leon won the Best Director Tony in 2014, ...
