I LOL at this one because I heard something very similar when Denzel did Julius Caesar about 20 years ago.
Others for me:

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum with Nathan Lane (1996) Dec 13 2025, 12:57:34 PM

The gag of the curtain going up revealing pretentious Greek tragedy, going down, and instantly coming up again to reveal Forum will always be in my mind as one of those perfect moments of comedy on a big budget."
It will be 30 years ago this spring that I saw this production, so I don't remember too many det

Tom Stoppard dead RIP Nov 29 2025, 12:37:59 PM
So sad to read. His body of work is testament to his mastery of storytelling. I am thankful I had the opportunity to see many of his plays during their original runs in London or on Broadway. A personal favorite (favorites?) is The Coast of Utopia trilogy. Leopoldstadt is a close second. I was 9 years old when Rosencrantz and Guildenstern... came to Broadway and I have always wished for a revival. RIP, Sir, and thank you for your gifts of theatre.

New Playbill Homepage Nov 21 2025, 03:02:19 PM
It's so bad, I hardly visit the site these days. Playbill used to be my daily go-to site for theater news since the dawn of the 21st century, but now, so many other sites are better. Playbill used to be much easier to navigate and at one time was my regular source for discounts. Discounts on the site have become few and far between (probably not entirely Playbill's fault), but even the link to find any discounts is more difficult to locate. The entire site looks like something that mi

Guess that means Andre de Shields can waltz to his second Tony."
Unsurprising as Stokes and Friedman were both nominated for best actor in a musical for the original production.

The BWW Tech Support Thread Nov 17 2025, 02:07:34 PM
My login status has been stable for the last five days or so. For a while there, I couldn't go from one discussion thread to another without getting logged out. I appreciate the ease of navigating the site again - thanks. Now if I can figure out how to make my photo image appear correctly...

Follies questions Sep 24 2025, 08:48:49 PM
Does Phyllis love Ben? I guess she must, otherwise why stay with him? Does Ben love Phyllis?
I believe Phyllis loves Ben, but she’s no longer in love with him. She molded herself to become a society wife (remember it's 1971, not 2025) and enjoys the lifestyle Ben provides her. Ben’s self-absorption, philandering, and lack of appreciation for Phyllis has caused her to feel an emotional void despite living their financial and social status. Phyllis stayed wit

Thank you. I went directly to the Criterion Ticketing platform and wasn't able to do it. Just did it now through the play's website. I appreciate your response.

I received a mailer today for the show, but it didn't include a discount code. I'm guessing there are no discounts until after the new year. I don't know if anyone knows differently.

Breaking character… acceptable? Sep 11 2025, 01:46:49 PM
I personally don't care for it, but there are times when I find it forgiving, especially when it's spontaneous. I recall a scene in The Constant Wife at Roundabout about 20 years ago when Kate Burton's character was declaring her independence from her husband, played by Michael Cumpsty. An audience member yelled out, "Take that, John!", causing the audience to break out in laughter. Burton and Cumpsty both paused until they could resume the scene, but they bot

The Marriott Marquis, which revamped Times Square, turns 40 today Sep 5 2025, 04:11:56 PM
George in DC said: "I was actually one of those arrested that final day.
It still sickens me that a Broadway Theatre is named after that assholeGerald Schoenfeld who was so instrumental in the destruction of the Hayes, Belasco and the others."
I believe you meant to say the Morosco, not the Belasco. The only thing I like about the Marquis is that the seats are somewhat comfortable. Otherwise, the theater is non-descript and lacks character.

What Broadway musicals have you seen in a foreign language? Sep 1 2025, 09:50:50 PM
Chicago in Spanish in Buenos Aires in July 2001. I didn't have to understand a word to know what was happening on stage :).

Your first Broadway show? Aug 26 2025, 03:53:10 PM
Pippin, first row mezzanine at the Imperial, January 9, 1974. I was a sophomore in high school, age 15, and went on a high school field trip. It was a Wednesday matinee. We had a snowstorm the night before, and although schools were closed that day for a snow day, we still made the trip from northern NJ because the roads were cleared by the time we had to leave for the show. Ben Vereen was out of the performance that day, but it was a great experience. I wore out the LP within a year after th

Telecharge Survey About Jellicle Ball Aug 12 2025, 07:00:25 PM
I've received email surveys in the past from Telecharge regarding possible upcoming Broadway shows, but I didn't receive this particular survey. I'm also not certain about the criteria they use to determine who receives or does not receive a survey. Based on the question you present from the survey, it seems that producers are trying to determine if there is enough interest to bring the show to Broadway. I wish they sent me a survey because I would be an absolute "yes!"<

Audience rewards missing points requests Jul 26 2025, 04:04:59 PM
Before the site revamp, my points were added to my account within a week of the performance date. Only once did I have to call and provide my order number for my points to be updated because it didn't happen automatically, and my points appeared the next day. I saw Swept Away on November 27. In early December I looked and noticed that my past points disappeared and the site was changed. When I called to inquire about my Swept Away points, the agent told me the points were included wi

Audience Rewards ticket locations Jul 16 2025, 07:12:31 PM
I wasn't able to get AR points when I purchased my tickets for Just in Time, but that might have been a production decision and not the theater's. I seem to recall getting AR points for shows at Circle in the Square in the past, but no longer having access to past AR activity on the AR website doesn't help me to try to remember.
