Matt Morrison Just in Time Tease
 Feb 10 2026, 05:14:03 PM

Yeah - looking at the Instagram post with the Darin vibes - and the fact that Jared Schonig - Just in Time's drummer "liked" it - I would guess that yes - he will be doing Bobby Darin for a few weeks.  That's a huge role to just drop in for a couple weeks - I think Groff said he was actually offstage only for about 2 minutes during the entire show. Could be interesting if he pulls it off - I would bet that he can at least do the original choreography - not so sure

Great Tony Awards Performances
 Jan 23 2026, 04:11:09 PM

Many of my favorites have already been mentioned - but I would add the Hair revival of 2009 - I immediately purchased tickets to it after just watching them in the opening number.

And The Boy from Oz was fantastic - Hugh in his gold lame pants and a mortified Sarah Jessica Parker was the best :)

The Death of the Understudy Slip
 Jan 14 2026, 03:31:18 PM

I hate having to go to a QR code for anything in a program - but I'm old :) I will say I saw what Just in Time did this week with Matt Magnuson doing Bobby Darin during Groff's vacation and I thought it was really cool. They reprinted the programs with Matt's name above the title. Groff's picture is still on the front of the playbill - but it has actually printed accurate playbills for this week with Matt's name on it.  Obviously not feasible for normal understudy and

Just in Time - Matt Morrison?

Joe Jonas actually sounds like a better fit. I've never heard him sing standards - but if he can - it would likely be a decent choice.

Just in Time - Matt Morrison?

I don't think Morrison has the charisma to pull off this role - and he seems too old for it as well. If we are pulling from old Glee cast lists - I think Grant Gustin would be a much better fit. Age-wise he is more appropriate, and I think he would be an interesting choice for this role. Whether he would be a big enough draw is the question.

I also don't think Jeremy Jordan is a big enough draw for this role either - honestly - even though he would do well in it.

Jonathan Groff Sets 2025 Broadway Return with JUST IN TIME?

When I saw the show in July - Larkin was Sandra Dee and I thought she was phenomenal. I kind of feel like she's the secret weapon of this show - she has covered for Sandra Dee, Connie Francis - and various Sirens - without missing a beat.  She's a fantastic swing - but

If that's true - they dodged a bullet - I don't think either one of them has the charm or charisma to pull this role off.

I maintain that they should go outside the box and convince someone like Seth McFarlane or Ma

Groff To Depart JUST IN TIME on March 29, 2026, Successor To Be Announced

Any outside-the-box ideas for replacement?

I think it will be someone from outside theatre, maybe music biz.

I would love someone REALLY outside the box like Seth McFarlane. I think he would be perfect - even though he's older.  And he just

I hope not - I think he's kind of smarmy. I know he could sing it - but has he even acted before?

Just In Time Seating
 Aug 8 2025, 01:28:04 PM

I saw the show a couple of weeks ago with my mother in G219 and G221 and they were perfect seats.  That's last row, in the center - closest to the main stage.  Really a perfect view of everything and they were among the cheapest seats - at the time - about $150/each.  There are really no bad seats in this theater - it's very small.

Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure at the Tonys: Keanu Reeves Get Straddled by Jonathan Groff
 Jun 11 2025, 12:15:52 PM

It was planned.  There was a couple of clips of Groff during rehearsals for the show in Instagram - it showed him jumping up on that particular seat. At least he planned it - Keanu may have not been in on it - but Groff knew he would be a good sport about it.

BOOP! x Tony Awards

Interesting point this article brings up is why was Real Women Have Curves - which only has two nominations approved to perform over Boop - which has 3 nominations - including Best Actress? Just in Time makes sense because they have 6 nominations and Jonathan Groff.  And honestly - I would rather watch a big splashy dance number from Boop rather than an out of context number from Real Women Have Curves - but that's just my opinion.

What I am saying is that in these clips, he isn't convincing me that he is attempting to be, theatrically speaking, Bobby Darin. At all. I am speaking regarding the acting in these songs in the clips. (Think Audra McDonald portraying Billie Holiday) She became Billie Holiday. 100%. I am seeing, Jonathan Groff. Not Bobby Darin.

Now don't get mad. I am entitled to my opinion.

I don't see this until this summer - but from what I've been hearing - I think this would be handled similarly to how they handled Hugh Jackman in Boy from Oz - they would cancel the show for that night if he was out.&n

Damn!  I had NO idea that last song was Bobby Darin!  He really was a damn chameleon.

This would have been better as less of a traditional bio-musical than if they had done it as a concert (or simply carried the opening conceit through the show): Groff performing Darin's songs, either in character as Darin or as himself like at the start of the show, interspersed with (very brief) stories about Darin's life if necessary to break up the numbers. Groff's brief bits about himself were more fun than anything I learned about

You've got a pretty good point there. Example - I am bringing my 87-year-old mom there on her birthday weekend in July and she's looking forward to it - regardless (we're also seeing Hugh Jackman at Radio City).  She was an origina

re: Top 25 Cast Recordings of All Time

I'm not going to list 25 - but I'm kind of shocked that these four aren't on there:

 - Sophisticated Ladies - OBC - my favorite:) Phenomenal recording with stellar singers

 - My Fair Lady - OBC - no explanation needed

 -  Hair - Revival - you have to have some Gavin Creel on here.

 - City of Angels - OBC - probably the one I listen to the most after Sophisticated Ladies

Bernadette Peters video recording of her studio

I’ve seen quite a few great performances on Broadway in the last 20 years (including a great one from the guy who introduced her in this clip).  But I saw this show in November of 2003 and this number was the only time that I felt overwhelmingly compelled to leap to my feet after a performance.  She was absolutely incredible- and her Tony performance, while she was very sick, gives you an idea of what we saw.  I know she got mixed reviews — but it’s the best performance I have ever seen on Broadway - hands down.
