Like Tag said, at the end of the day this is not a hard question and one the article doesn't even answer. Actors in London aren't paid much. Most actors on the West End have 2 or 3 jobs and wait tables on the side. Unless you are a star over there you can't make a living doing theatre.

Audra will win because she is giving the better performance, and even if you don't believe that, she is doing the MUCH harder role and it's so much bigger and nuanced and well-rounded than what Nicole is doing. Nicole has to sing 2 songs basically that are not that hard (Glenn Close can sing them) and moved down a key at that.
