DOG DAY AFTERNOON Reviews Apr 16 2026, 05:25:56 PM
Thanks. Was really hoping for a different response, but sadly these reviews fit right in with the rest. Too bad. Had such high hopes for this production.

Want to check in on Dog Day. Has anyone attended recently? Any further tweaks (or improvements) since the reviews came out? Or is it locked in and it is what it is? Thanks.

Leslie manville on audience behavior .. Apr 12 2026, 08:31:19 AM
Attended the Giant matinee yesterday. Maybe four people recorded the CC. Just not a big deal. I can get worked up pretty quickly about audience behavior, but this ain’t worth it.

That ‘s still not enough for some of the purity police around here. Who says cancel culture is dead?

Pink to Host the 2026 Tony Awards Apr 9 2026, 03:04:50 PM
She’s likeable and extremely talented. She’ll do fine. Some of you need to calm down and worry about stuff that’s really important.

Leslie manville on audience behavior .. Apr 9 2026, 12:29:46 PM
This will always be a losing argument. People are addicted to their phones and would rather cut off an arm than give them up. Phones aren't going anywhere, no matter how much many of us huff and puff. Anyway, I’ve been to a fair number of shows and it doesn’t feel like curtain call photos are out of control. A few folks snap shots, but the vast majority are clapping. And I’ve never witnessed anyone filming during a performance (thank God).

Popcorn at Dog Day Afternoon - New Normal? Apr 8 2026, 01:59:36 PM

Have you seen this recently? Has it gotten any better at all? Have tickets, but on the fence about seeing it. Guess I’m searching for any reason to go.

God forbid Americans go two hours without shoveling food into their fat faces. No idea why the obesity rate is around 50%. Pathetic.

DOG DAY AFTERNOON Reviews Mar 31 2026, 10:32:05 AM
Find it so bizarre that you start with a gritty, suspenseful, dramatic 70’s movie…add two intense dramatic actors as co-leads…and bring it to Broadway…as a comedy???
is this simply a writer insisting on putting his own stamp on a classic? All these lousy reviews are pointing to the same things. Have tickets to see this in two weeks. Guess we’ll still go, but my interest has dwindled. Too bad.
At least I have tickets for Giant and Salesman.&n

Yikes. Might want to keep that embargo in place.

DOG DAY AFTERNOON Previews Mar 30 2026, 11:05:07 AM
With the official opening upon us, I’m wondering what folks who have seen it multiple times think. I’ve heard about some fine tuning during previews, but what specifically has been tweaked? Has the running time been trimmed? The comic tone dialed back? A few secondary characters removed? Early preview reviews were not great. Really want to like this production, so hope it’s now in stronger shape. Thanks.

Dislike anything that encourages the audience to think they’re part of the show.

NYT: Why Are Theater Tickets So Much Cheaper in London Than New York? Mar 27 2026, 08:54:21 AM
It’s odd because London is not an inexpensive city. But theatre tickets are quite affordable. The overall experience is much nicer too. West End is much less trashy and tacky vs Times Square.

I was trying to overhear and eavesdrop on the row behind me, but I think they may be planting or recruiting audience members to get the Attica chant going ---can anyone confirm??"
What’s the scoop on this? Is this a cringy moment because so few audience members join in? What’s been happening?

Why are audiences so poorly behaved these days? Mar 23 2026, 08:35:47 AM
Think it’s a combo of things: A lot of angry, self-entitled people with “f—- you” attitudes. Many of these same people are slobs, who dress like they just rolled out of bed and act like they’re still at home. No sense of shame or embarrassment, nothing is off limits or too low. Just look at who’s in the White House for Exhibit A on that last one.

Gillian Anderson & Billy Crudup to star in West End VIRGINIA WOOLF, dir. Marianne Elliott Mar 18 2026, 08:44:46 PM
MayAudraBlessYou2 said: "I could see this transferring to New York...but perhaps not Broadway. Anderson has been reluctant to stay put in the US for long periods of time for work. I have to imagine it would be a good 6 month commitment on Broadway, between rehearsals and a long enough run to recoup. Based on past behavior, I'm not holding my breath that she would want to uproot her London life for that long.
Her production of Streetcar Named Desiretransferred to St. An

DEATH OF A SALESMAN 2026 Previews Mar 15 2026, 06:05:06 AM
That’s great to hear. Seems like most are really liking the production. It’s the venue that’s up for criticism. Looking forward to this next month. It’s funny…of the plays I have coming up, this was the one I feared could be a flop. But I’m reading good things. I expected the most from Dog Day Afternoon, and lots of folks are bailing on it.
