I completely agree. I think a future (non-City Center) revival needs to do some work with trimming and even finessing some of the show. 'What a Game' needs to be cut completely and I think several songs could be trimmed down like 'The night Goldman spoke...' , 'Atlantic City', 'Coalhouse Demands

Good luck to them, cause I actually want to see that

I guess we’ll see how things shape up with the rest of the season, but right now it’s looking sparse and based on what we’ve seen so far, I think Uranowitz should be solidly in. Next to Henry, he’s this production’s most acclaimed performance and he has a strong track record with the Tonys. Since his second Broadway show he’s been nominated for all of his eligible performances except for Prince of Broadway, a revue show with underwhelming reception.

His certain competition is looking primarily to be Nicholas Christopher for CHESS - with Tutty (Two Strangers), Bourzgui (Lost Boys), Tveit (Chess), and Brightman (Schmigadoon) all questionable

A man in tights and heels doesn’t bat an eye anymore, and rightfully so. But a bald, long lashed Simard in a bustiertearing through that score?"
Simard’s great, but I don’t really see it and don’t like the idea of casting the sweet transvestite with a cisgender woman just do

Ellis is a great director. I think a lot of the time we associate great direction with the kind of big swings that Ellis doesn’t really go in for. But he understands and trusts his material, having a great track record for handsome productions with strong performances.

What I heard is that Corden pushed for it, which makes sense. He’s got an image issue and while I don’t think it’s getting fixed, I can see why he’d think this production can help. It’s a respectable, prestigious comedy with a plum part that fits him and how he probably wants to be seen right now. He’ll get to be the most sympathetic guy onstage w

Benanti may not be working on Broadway but she's far from taking "a break." She's continually working on countlessprojects, including her one-woman show. She's appeared on several recent film and TV projects, if in a small capacity. She's made it cl

Is this still the case? Obviously when she really badly damaged her neck in Into The Woods it massively affected Wedding Singer, but I don't recall her having widely reported attendance issues in Women On The Verge, She Loves Me, My Fair Lady, Gypsy, her straight play performances etc.

Jeffrey Wright & Octavia Spencer to star in DEATH OF A SALESMAN film Aug 20 2025, 02:03:00 PM
I think Denzel can tone down his coolness to make it work, but I also prefer Wright for this part. And yes, Arthur Miller’s original writing is basically perfect as it is, so Kushner’s involvement is odd. I’m guessing his work will be less extensive than it was for West Side Story (which he should’ve won an Oscar for). Also guessing that Kushner and Chinonye Chukwu are working to make this adaptation not just a bit of colorblind casting. Curious who they’ll be ge

The 78th Annual Tony Award Nominations for 2025 May 3 2025, 07:44:29 PM
I can’t see Matthew Morrison doing as well with Just in Time as Groff, who I think in general is just more talented but also has the kind of innate likability to carry this kind of project. Morrison is talented but I don’t think he has that kind of charisma. He’s always felt like a guy had all the pieces of a star in place but lacked the it factor that truly makes one.

Also happy for English scoring both Ashe and Neshat after thinking there would only be room for one. Though as great as that category is, I feel sorry for Amalia Yoo missing out. I had thought she and Fina Strazza were sure things, to the point where I considered Morgan Scott scoring a third nod in the category alongs

GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS 2025 Reviews Apr 22 2025, 02:23:53 PM
I don’t think Culkin’s problem is in emulating a sleazy salesman, it’s that he can’t transcend the archetype, which is what this role calls for. Roma is a total sleaze but we need to buy that he could convince his prey that they’re friends as he sinks his claws into them.
After the audience has heard all this talk about a great salesman with a massive lead over the rest, when we finally see Roma at work, he should be practically hypnotic. C

To be honest, I forgot about Cripple of Inishmaan when I brought up Pillowman. Now that I’m reminded of Radcliffe’s prior McDonagh work, I’ll double down on wanting more.
edit: and without having seen a thing of his performance, I feel confident assuming Letts was indeed perfect in that role

Not sure why, but the first that came to mind was The Pillowman. Maybe it’s cause he plays exhausted incredibly well, but I think he’s got the charisma and intensity to be quite great as Katurian. I also think he’s willing enough to play second fiddle that a great performance as Michal could be on the cards, and I could even see him make for a fine Tupolski when he’s older.
