Do performers still get paid and get their medical insurance if they are out due to injury? Hope he feels better soon; he is great.

Chess in February question (Understudies) Nov 30 2025, 12:23:49 PM
I saw it 2 weeks ago, and they were both great. But at the end of the show, I cared more about Freddie than I did Florence, and that isn't usually the case. I also thought Pity the Child was more emotional and more powerful than Someone else's Story. I think Lea was very good, but I think Aaron was wonderful. And Nick was exceptional.

Sarah Meahl was injured and had to leave mid-show. My guess is the swing wasn't ready for that??

CHESS Previews Oct 16 2025, 05:12:40 PM
I had a ticket for Saturday's show, but due to an illness in the family, I will be unable to attend. I don't know when I will make it to NYC next, so for those of you who saw the show, could you let me know what you thought of Bangkok and its staging? It's my favorite song (I think...Iv'e listened to most of Chess through different recordings, but I haven't heard all of them.) Everyone seeing the show... especially if you are seeing it Saturday!!...I

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 9/7/25 Sep 9 2025, 08:21:18 PM
Has Moulin Rouge been above a million at all since Wayne Brady and Taye Diggs joined the cast? Or at all this summer?
Do you think most shows in danger make it to the new year, or will a lot of them close before/during holidays? (I feel like more closed before the holidays last year and I was surprised they didn't wait until January).

Mr. Wormwood said: "I think that's a really thoughtful statement from Helen"
I agree. I hope the comments under her statement are kind.

If you’re reading this, it’s a sign to treat yourself and not use that money to help the sweaty one move to NYC Jul 29 2025, 02:39:47 PM
I highly recommend everyone block this troll named Boris. That way he doesn't interact with you, you don't interact with him. A much happier and less hateful board.
EDIT: You do that manually in your settings here:https://www.broadwayworld.com/managebanned.php"
Thank you so much for showing how to block this guy!! I did not know, and I already feel better about this board. Thank You!!

Best Chess Recording Jul 11 2025, 12:04:59 PM
I have never seen Chess, and I admittedly don't know the music well. (I know One Night in Bangkok, Anthem, and a lot of Florence's songs). Part of me wants to listen to the different cast recordings, and part of me wants to wait until I see it. I did look up the song list and background information, and I was surprised to see that the actors who originated Freddy in the West End and on Broadway were not nominated while the other two leads in both were. ( I thought fo

Lea Michele, Aaron Tveit, and Nicholas Christopher in 2025 Chess Revival! Jun 27 2025, 08:42:07 PM
I just saw online that there are 4 tickets left to the first preview. Do we think that is accurate, or will they release more the closer it gets?

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 9/22/24 Sep 24 2024, 03:31:47 PM
Aaron is on tonight and Sunday.
Thanks for the reply, Ermengarde!! I know it is closing in December, but I guess I am just surprised they are bringing in replacements and going for a few more months when things look....bad.

I imagine the producers of Moulin Rouge will be paying even more attention to the numbers this coming week. They took a big hit last week (but still cleared a million) with JoJo out all week (book tour) and Aaron out all weekend. This week Aaron is out 6 shows (baby??). If the numbers don't drop (or if they rise) they will probably be much more comfortable with the cast changes coming soon.
I am pretty new to looking at the numbers and outside of keeping people employed...whic

Novels That Could Make Great Musicals Sep 10 2024, 08:09:18 PM
I would love to see how Alex Timbers would stage The Night Circus. It could be visually stunning...or a complete flop. If done right, the stage design could be incredible. I am not sure about score though...maybe a newcomer??

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 3/24/24 Mar 26 2024, 03:37:07 PM
I'm happy Sweeney is still doing well even with Foster missing a show. (Tveit and de Waal were wonderful together!!)
Has a recent show ever limped along as badly as Wine and Roses? Even Bad Cinderella had an uptick before it closed. I didn't love it, but I had hoped it would end stronger than this.

Have you ever seen a musical on Broadway that didn't get a standing ovation? Mar 23 2024, 08:05:38 PM
Weirdly enough, because the audience was really into it AND it was a great performance, but nobody stood when I saw Avenue Q on Broadway. I really wanted to, but I was too nervous to stand on my own back then. (I could not see the mezzanine, so I'm not sure if people stood up there, but nobody stood in the orchestra.)

How did Into the Woods do after its closing was announced? Were all of replacements announced when the closing was announced? How is Sweeney comparing?
Also, do NYC schools get an entire week off for spring break before Easter?? Numbers will hopefully keep improving across the board with the holiday.

Groban & Ashford in SWEENEY TODD On Broadway Oct 21 2023, 09:31:59 AM
Long time lurker (over 10 years) first time poster...because this topic fascinates me. I first saw Tveit in Assassins. I loved it. I thought he was excellent in the role (and very funny at stage door-all stage doors should be in bars!!) I found his Ballad of Booth to be haunting, but I agree that it was the end of the show that sealed the deal for me. He was scary and bat-**** crazy. I turned to my boyfriend at the time, and I said, "I get it" about him
