Looks like Casey Garvin has been out of "Chess" the past 10 days or so. Does anyone know if he's on leave, or out ill? Thanks.

He posted on socials that he was injured.
He suffered an injury shortly after opening and was initially out for three weeks, later extended to January 6th (for now). For the time being, his track was mainly covered by Michael Milkanin (who is pretty great and easy on the eyes) and recently switched to Adam Roberts, likely to give Milkanin a chance to perform other swing tracks

Thank you for the update. I'm not on social media, and wasn't aware. Hope he has a speedy recovery.
yes, he's out injured. they also hired another male swing, Travis Ward-Osborne, who went on most of last week.

Thank you. Hope he'll be ok.

Casey Garvin just posted on his Insta story yesterday that he has injured himself and will be out of the show until at least December 22nd. It appears Michael Milkanin will be covering his track at least for the remainder of this week."
Hopefully he feels better soon.
For the interested, he updated on his Insta story today. He’s sidelined for at least another 4 weeks due to exacerbation of his back injury, with a projected return at the end of January/early February

That sucks, hope he feels better soon. I do try catch him the shows he's in, was thinking of going in January but maybe I'll wait.

Do performers still get paid and get their medical insurance if they are out due to injury? Hope he feels better soon; he is great.

Absolutely, especially if it happened while on the job (during a performance or required rehearsal) - workman’s comp kicks in and then they usually get 2/3s of their regular pay and all medical expenses incurred.

Thanks for the update. Hope he gets better fast. I have tickets for "Chess" again in May. Can't wait to see the show, and him again.
Casey just posted on Insta that he’s now out another 6 weeks until 3/17.
Oh my goodness. His recovery is going very slow. Hope he won't get extended again.

If he really has a herniated/bulging disc, no amount of physical therapy will relieve his pain 100%. He'll probably need surgery to take it out to fully repair his back. Thats about a 6-12 week recovery.

As someone who literally just had that surgery on my neck, can confirm. (Although I had a disc replacement and that has a much faster healing time than spinal fusion.)

Thanks for sharing this. I have a disc that won’t “re-absorb” over the last two years and UCLA is considering a disc replacement at this point. Didn’t realize Casey was experiencing something similar - best wishes on a speedy recovery, handsome!
