I saw all three - and saw DOTV in particular multiple times. I thought DOTV was an insane and wild romp. I understand why European fans get defensive about how Broadway 'ruined' the piece, but to be honest - I had a blast, the show was NEVER boring, and the design was astonishing. I would love to see it live in its original incarnation, however, as I love a lot of the score. It definitely had problems though, and the book couldn't seem to decide what kind of show it wanted to be. Still, like ...

Yes, and that non-eq was also done by Big League, no? Interesting that the announcement uses the logo from that revival.

I am not sure that SIX is going non-Eq. Has that been announced? It's not uncommon for mostly non-eq markets (small ones like Palm Desert or North Charleston, for example) to book one 'big' Equity show every year to anchor their season. SIX is probably their anchor this year, which makes sense. It's a full Equity show but small enough to have a guarantee they can afford to book.

Anyone seen the HAIRSPRAY tour since Prather took it over this season? How is it holding up? Debating grabbing a ticket.

Took a quick look at the Ordway Facebook page and it also seems like the Star Tribune gave it a great review, though it's behind a paywall unfortunately. New lyrics are by Amanda Green, and I believe in a video she mentions that Friends Forever uses a tune from SUBWAYS ARE FOR SLEEPING that her father wrote, which has been recycled with her lyrics so that the additional music sounds 'in time' with the rest of the score, or something to that effect.

I believe, though I could be wrong, that the St Paul run is technically a co-pro between Networks and Ordway. The official 'tour' start is Baltimore. That might explain the gap. Again, could be wrong, that's just an observational theory.

It does fall, and quite a bit faster than Broadway's.

I haven't seen them specifically but have seen the revamped London production, and its actually up there among my fave versions that have been staged. Love the new chandelier, the horse (which is based on an actual statue on the Paris Opera's roof), etc. I truly thought the changes (minimal, honestly, much of it still looks and feel's like the original) worked beautifully. Look forward to seeing the London production again.

Agree with Tag. Another sit down of OZ probably won't happen, but I could see him bringing it over to close the UK Tour (a la JOSEPH, which he was also an investing producer on), for a limited run, especially since it's an entirely different staging than the original run.

I'd say go. It's a fun show. I love the piece, and loved the 91 revival staging Osmond toured with, but did NOT like the filmed version. I'll take any live production (even a bad one) before the film. It would have been better had the original plan to film it on stage had panned out.

Winter Garden could house some tours - shows the size of a Six, for example. The Elgin has hosted tours in the past. It's a gorgeous set of theatres, and a shame that they aren't used more often, especially the Winter Garden.

Dancap never owned theaters, they rented the North York Centre (the old Ford Centre), which is no longer usable for Broadway shows since the larger space was unfortunately sub-divided, and the Four Seasons (problem being he could only use it in summer months), and originally he put some things into the Elgin. Dancap tried to buy the Pantages (Now the Mirvish), but it was blocked by Mirvish Productions outbidding him I believe (it's been years so the details evade my memory). ...
