Producers do not go in putting money into a show they think is a disaster. And btw, this one isn’t. I think it will be a mainstay in musical theater and see regional theaters doing it in a few years
I just have not been feeling satire recently. I liked it in the Thanksgiving play because of the white girl pretending to be Native American, and the Katie finneran character as the woke white savior type, but here it seems to belittle real debate between people. I’m talking in the second act of course
“I’ve got brains and I’ve got guts and I’ll be using that, until I’m finally the one who they’re all looking at!No matter how unlikely now it seems,I’m gonna have a life of chocolate dreams!and it’ll all come true and be SO delicious!” Just beautiful “I want” song!! And it all fits absolutely perfectly!!!
No the show takes off from the jump, have you even seen it? Maybe see it before talking. I’m saying those lyrics are when the tempo speeds up and it has a big act one finish.
Are you kidding? This is when it takes off, act one finale. Simple, to the point, she sings undeterred, and the melody is killer. There’s also backup vocals too so it builds.
“Things are looking hopeless but we know it’s a fact, in America you can have a second act!”Brilliant lyrics!!!! I’m truly in awe of several of those songs and lyrics
I saw the jellicle ball. I saw the little slide show and the hideous choreo. Memory sounded absolutely atrocious. The only thing I liked was the choral vocals. I see tons. It’s kad who doesnt go to the theater and then comes on this board and spreads his platitudes around.
There’s some really great stuff in the Queen of Versailles as well, but it didn’t stop people from trouncing it because they remember the bad and hardly the good.
The Rodgers and Hammerstein estate I guess. She sings til there was you the best I’ve ever heard. I’d love to see her as Marian paroo, Eliza Doolittle, Carrie Pepperidge
She still works with a lot of broadway people. Ramin Karimloo, Matt Morrison, Kerry Butler, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Paul wontorek, others, they all comment on her stuff on insta. Not sure if she’s looking for a Broadway return, it also could be a risk for producers but if she auditions and somebody wants to cast her, it could happen.
I think that these theaters should open themselves up as touring houses. I was looking at tickets for the dancing with the stars tour and it was well sold, I was shocked at how much money it was. 400 bucks was the cheapest. There are so many comedians and great acts who would love to play broadway for a few nights.
