Tom Hanks to lead self-written play THIS WORLD OF TOMORROW at The Shed

Cue the "this is a sign of a Broadway recession" comments...so annoying. Has he been on or off Broadway before?

Yes, Hanks led the Nora Ephron play Lucky Guy on Broadway in 2013.

He was in Nora Ephron's play Lucky Guy on Broadway in 2013, and was nominated for a Tony Award. I don't think he's ever been off-Broadway, but we'll never know, since IOBDB has become straight-up unusable.

How a sign of recession? If anything, off-Bwy they can make more $$$$. Less overhead.

And IMO was super underwhelming in it.

There was a rumor he was returning to Broadway and I’d been randomly hoping he’d be doing a play with Meg Ryan because how cool would that be. But I’m still excited to be able to see him live again.

And those comments—like many on this board—would be illogical as during a recession, Hanks would probably not choose to spend his time Off-Broadway. He’d bank a Marvel film or announce that long abandoned sequel to Forest Gump.

Pre-sale tickets go on sale tomorrow for the highest rung of members (not my rung, LOL). Does anyone know the range of prices? Also, for Straight Line Crazy there were a couple of lower-priced seats available at each performance. Has anyone heard about something like that?

also, a little frustrating that the website still isn't indicating a performance schedule -- the calendar says, "There are no events at The Shed this week" for the entire run. Makes planning v difficult.

It looks like the schedule is now on the calendar. Generally Tues - Fri at 7. Some Wed 1pm mats. Sat 1 & 7. Sun 1pm mat

I found the lotteries/digital rush to see Straight Line Crazy and Here We Are at The Shed pretty winnable. Hopefully that will be an option with This World of Tomorrow. I'd assume Tom Hanks would make it a hard-to-get ticket, but Hugh Jackman in Sexual Misconduct of the Middle Classes is a pretty recent example where that wasn't the case.

the calendar is still kind of a mess (or at least i'm confused by it!) ... most days throughout the entire run have two listings -- one labeled Preview and the other just the name of the performance. maybe it's because i'm not eligible to buy yet?

Off topic : I think Jackman did some damage to his brand with leaving Deborah Lee the way he did.

Does anyone know the ticket price range for this show?

I just bought two tickets to a matinee in November. I waited in a queue for a half hour. Site was very buggy. I got signed out at one point and kept getting weird error messages. Ticket prices ranged from $299 to $129. That's what I bought. The $129 seats are on the far sides.

From the site:
Guests under 30 years old may purchase up to two tickets at the front of the theater at $45 each. Both ticket buyers and their guests must be under the age of 30.
Under 30 orders will be held for pick up at the box office in the lobby starting one hour prior to curtain. A valid photo ID listing proof of age must be presented to pick up tickets). At the discretion of management, failure to show proof of age will result in payment of $304 or a forfeiture of ticket without a refund.

By the time I got in the queue the cheapest seats were 199. Better than 299 or 349 so I grabbed for a weekend in December

I saw some for $129 during the Mastercard pre-sale today. I think they might hold back some tickets at all price points. It looks like there were other seats open but not available to buy during today's presale. I don't know if the member ones were the same. The $129 seats are just on the sides of the back few rows, from what I saw.

Does anyone know what time the general onsale is today?

all the pre-sales started at noon, so that would be my best guess.

There are Under 30 tickets available in the general on sale today. Just got one for my daughter for November.
I don't see any $129 seats left, only $179
