Encores! 2026 Update?

It is indeed. But a little research (and by research, I just mean a simple Google search, is all), would negate a lot of the unnecessary questions... but would not prevent discussion and conversation. Maybe it could inspir

Also, they mention about it being the first all-black La Cage, but aren't the MUNY doing the same thing this Summer with Norm Lewis?

No one ever said The MUNY's La Cage was an all-black cast. And their cast list has been announced.

(Does anyone in this chat room know how to do a little research BEFORE posting stupid comments on here?)

After the Tony’s… Broadway show closing death watch

I do agree that Gypsy will close around Labor Day but I feel like they'll wait a little while to announce so it doesn't seem reactionary to the Tonys results.
"

Gypsy has previously already been extended to October 5, but who knows?

Wait, You mean the show that's been extended until end of Novem-- oh sorry, extended twice, until mid January?! Surely you're talking about a different Just in Time, not THIS one that's grossing near a million dollars a week and playing to full capacity. The one that got to perform on the Tonys even though it wasn't n

After the Tony’s… Broadway show closing death watch

Floyd Collins has always been a limited run (and Ragtime is already announced to come in), so not sure why that would be included in a list of shows to post closing after Tonys.

City Center’s MATTRESS transferring to Broadway this summer

Where does it say Urie is also transferring? I only see that it's just Sutton so far, and all other casting is yet to be announced...

Is Jordan E. Cooper, at 27, really the youngest playwright in Broadway history?

Pretty sure that Orson Welles holds this record... at 21 years old.

What's The Next
 Oct 18 2022, 02:40:53 AM

It won't be on Broadway, but I'm looking forward to hearing what the new Cats "remix" orchestrations sound like. Not sure you could technically call it EDM in the traditional sense, but this total reimagining of the score might actually get people excited for yet another production of that show, for once.

Morosco, how helpful you are!!

Would you possibly have the proscenium height & width + prosc. to back wall  info for:
American Airlines, Circle in the Square, Hudson, New Amsterdam, Sam Friedman, Sondheim, & Studio 54?

And I need just the proscenium height for:
Minskoff...

Really appreciate it! Thanks :)

Is Wicked doing okay?
 Oct 3 2019, 06:55:03 PM

Really?

The Gershwin is Broadway's largest theatre at nearly 2,000 seats... and it still practically sells out more often than not. As others have quoted here, it's not a show that has a lot of advance sales anymore. You also have to think about the time of year you're coming. Height of summer or holiday time? It sells out with the tourist crowd sometimes well before the night-of. Visiting in the off-season? After Labor Day/before Thanksgiving... Of course the

An All Male West Side Story?
 Oct 3 2019, 06:46:11 PM

There's rumor that a few other iconic songs have also been cut. At least during previews anyway... until Sondheim and the Bernstein/Laurents estates see this version and give it their yay or nay.

We'll see how long this lasts! and whether or not they're required to stick to a more traditional approach in terms of song cuts and structure. There's a reason why they've got a whole 2 months of previews!

An All Male West Side Story?
 Oct 3 2019, 06:38:38 PM

The movie casting may be irrelevant, but the fact remains that just because part of the cast is female, the other percentage may or may not be all male. In whatever production- film, Broadway or otherwise. It is ignorant to assume that every cast member who is not female, is "indeed" male. Not necessarily true. That's all.

Not that this is a review of the Pasadena version we're talking about here, but... Open Air Theatre in Regent's Park did a London production that was not only very different, but most definitely not less interesting than ones before it.

Kinda funny, but not indeed true. Anybodys is non-binary in the upcoming film version.

Will Six be the cheapest musical on Broadway in the past 25 years?
 Sep 11 2019, 04:15:30 PM

I can’t believe people are still asking about lower prices because the running time is short. Anyone actually in the industry knows that’s not how it works. Also, common sense kind of answers this question.

Come From Away, Band’s Visit, Hedwig... all one-act, roughly 90-minute shows. All arguably had higher prices than Ferryman, Long Day’s Journey and Iceman Cometh (which is just now finishin

Most in a season?
 Aug 30 2019, 07:24:26 PM

Yes, the 1927-28 season seems to have been the busiest year for Broadway. Some sources claim there were at least 280 new productions (consensus says between 250 and 280). There were over 70 Broadway houses at the time, with about 30 of them newly constructed. And 50-100 performances wasn't too bad.

Compare that with today's average of 36 new productions in 41 houses... And the $0.75 ticket price versus $125 average.

Available Theatres

All great prospects to think about, and most of them made sense... but the only one that truly peaked my curiosity was The Lehman Trilogy.  Not that Connick's Cole Porter tribute couldn't be cancelled or be moved to another theatre, but I don't see how the Nederlander could get in Lehman, Cole Porter, and Mr. Saturday Night all within in the same season. If the trilogy is going to be only a limited run, perhaps it could go i

Broadway Real Estate 19/20

Currently, it looks like there are still a handful of B'way houses that will be available in the spring 2020. Any word on who's moving in to all of these theatres?

The Belasco is still dark this fall before Girl From the North Country comes in February. Any limited engagement scheduled before the end of this year?

So far, open theatres this spring will be the Booth, Circle in the Square, Co
