Incredible news! Now they just need to transfer Jelly’s Last Jam as well! Glad to see that Encores is doing Broadway transfers again!
The idea is to work and to experiment. Some things will be creatively successful, some things will succeed at the box office, and some things will only - which is the biggest only - teach you things that see the future. And they're probably as valuable as any of your successes. -Harold Prince
Carol Burnett was nominated for the Tony for originating the lead role, but Sarah Jessica Parker was snubbed in the 90s for the first revival. How does this production compare with the 90s one ?

The Playbill article states that Urie is also reprising his role, with further casting to be announced. Also hadn't initially noticed the fact that this is also playing an LA engagement over Christmas - exciting!
Good for Sutton. If there are no new musicals, she will make do with revivals. Incredible year for her. I am not a big fan of the show -- never have been -- but I hope it is a hit and further solidifies her journey to being a true Broadway legend, a term that is woefully overused,

Hoping for Jelly too - I adored that production. With the same cast, pretty please broadway gods???
Amy Sherman Palladino rewrote the book for this, she also created Bunheads that starred Foster. I’ve never seen the Disney movie version on Disney Plus with Tracey Ullman, maybe I’ll watch it soon.

I echo the question on comparing the two productions. I found the 90s revival to be a snoozefest - the guy sitting behind me said aloud, "This is Once Upon a Mistake," and I thought he was right. I didn't see the Encores production out of indifference, but I'd willing to give at a chance with Sutton.,

The last new musical she did was Shrek, almost 15 years ago. I'd have to imagine only doing revivals is a deliberate decision on her part.
"...everyone finally shut up, and the audience could enjoy the beginning of the Anatevka Pogram in peace."

I don’t blame her. It takes so long for new musicals to develop and even then it’s no sure thing it will work or come to NYC. Remember the Sweet Charity she did Off Broadway that was rumored to transfer ?
