Mystery of Edwin Drood - Voting Logistics

Jan 3, 2020 — 1:16:09 AM

I was at both of those shows....Facebook and the last one. The final choice went like this:(Playbill) Theatregoers were also treated to three lovers instead of two. Audiences selected Helena Landless/Miss Janet Conover (Tony nominee Jessie Mueller), and were tied between John Jasper/Mr. Clive Paget (Will Chase) and Neville Landless/Mr. Victor Grinstead (Andrew Samonsky) as the pair of lovers – which would potentially place the Landless twins in an awkward romantic situation. Typically the aud...

Goodbye Fun Home!

Sep 11, 2016 — 3:15:01 PM

The show moved me so much the first time I saw it 2 years ago, that I knew I would have to be there to say goodbye last night. There were a lot of changes, perhaps too subtle for the casual viewer, but after seeing the show many time, I could see the progression of how the actors presented their characters. Last night was amazing. And knowing it was the final show, each extra pause or deep breath, was a heart-grabber.The audience was in love and awe from the moment the lights went down. Abund...

Spamilton

I saw the show last night too. Laughed my ass off. I love Hamilton and have seen it, and this show is a perfect send-up of the show, its cast, its creator, and its popularity. Yeah, there is a bit of non-Hamilton entertainment, but it is really connected to the plot....you'll have to see to understand. No spoilers from me. The voices are amazing, their insights are spot on. GO. You won't be disappointed. My 16 year old enjoyed it too.

BCEFA Easter Bonnet Competition 2016

Apr 26, 2016 — 9:40:34 PM

When they introduced the School of Rock act yesterday I said to my daughter "how cool would it be if they really got Stevie to come!?" When they started the song today and she was THERE I almost fell over the mezz railing. I have to say, I think it was the biggest surprise of the evening.

I have not been so moved by a show in a long time. I don't understand why the subject matter should affect one's enjoyment of this show anymore than it should for The King and I or Finding Neverland. It's not a history lesson but rather a story about PEOPLE.I only saw it this week and wished I had seen it earlier. I would go again. The acting was superb, and I was moved to tears numerous times.Bravo to all involved. You put on an incredible show with heart and meaning.

BroadwayCon 2016 - Experience reports!

Jan 25, 2016 — 7:49:41 PM

Note for above: VIPS DID get their own check in line and they DID have a separate entry line for the Main Stage events on Friday. There were always Con staff around to help and if you couldn't find one you only had to ask at the check-in desk.A couple of glitches:When the CON was announced and I saw the ticket scale, I knew I wanted to go all weekend and also knew I could not afford $600 each for my daughter and myself. I actually bought her pass first because I thought she could go by hersel...

BroadwayCon 2016 - Experience reports!

LizzieCurry said: " Because there were a ton of kids there who this weekend who have no one to talk to about musical theatre at home. And they just had their love legitimized and validated. And that's a great thing, even if I wasn't one of them."This was my biggest take-home from the event. I took my daughter for the weekend as her 16th birthday present. I watched my awkward, geeky, hard-to-make-friends girl find people "just like her" and spend hours talking and laughing and bonding, while s...

BroadwayCon 2016 - Experience reports!

Jan 24, 2016 — 10:50:40 PM

** Etiquette lessons should be in store for a lot of the younguns who were running around like the Con was the mall. Walking in and out of meeting room doors, jumping up and leaving or chatting loudly during panel discussions, or subjecting the rest of us to listen to their phones endlessly pinging as they conversed with pals while industry celebs were trying to talk. I know some kids came without parents but there needs to be some way to control the wayward kids.(Read my other post about how...

atuomala said: "To add the sessions of your choosing, log into your Tixr account, click "View Event" and it will give you the option to add the autograph/photo sessions of your choosing for free (2 sessions have already reached capacity so they are no longer available) but after I selected my sessions and confirmed them, I received the tickets in an email. "Is that only for VIP ticket holders? I don't see any option for sessions....only a weekend ticket holder.

Tall people blocking view in theatre

Jan 18, 2016 — 1:57:30 PM

I love Mezz first row too, but sometimes you have to lean forward if the bar blocks the view. Why should I have to sit back in my seat if I then cannot see the whole stage?

Pootie2 said:You can bring up your issues to BroadwayCon directly, whether on their Facebook and/or in-person once you get to the convention. Melissa Anelli is the lead. The Facebook announcement post about the raffles: https://www.facebook.com/bwaycon/posts/551333145034946However, you did actually get the email, so that's not a technical glitch (I don't know about mariel9's situation of course) but rather an issue of the communication style. I'm afraid that won't be very convincing as a cons...

Pootie, I sent a note to the link on the bottom of the BroadwayCon page telling them about my upset at the procedure. I have not heard back from them. The method of spreading news did tend to exclude those of us who do not constantly troll social media or look for information on the event. I don't spend time on Twitter, and did not think I would have to search for additional information. I would have expected something that big to be announced at ticket purchase time or at least sent in an em...

Tall people blocking view in theatre

Jan 17, 2016 — 10:05:43 PM

When I went to see Something Rotten, I was happy with my seat until the couple sat in front of me. The man must have been a linebacker in his youth. At least 6'5 with broad shoulders wearing a collared coat and scarf. I'm 5'3. His partner was not much smaller at around 6'3. Since the show had not started I asked the house manager who re-sat us without a problem and said they reserve seats for that very purpose.I know people cannot help their height, but an awareness of the people behind would...

Bummed for myself and my daughter, whose 16th birthday present the Con tickets are. I did not know we had to sign up for autograph sessions ahead of time. I knew about the workshops and the form for those but never heard about the autograph thing until I read about it this morning. I thought you could just get in line and wait like most Cons.We have whole weekend passes and I feel like we are being squeezed out of most of what we wanted to do because of the sign ups. Why can't workshops be fo...

New Year's Eve Shows..street closures?

Dec 31, 2015 — 12:17:23 AM

Seeing Gentleman's Guide tomorrow afternoon. Is it going to be difficult to maneuver around Times Square at matinee time? Do they have streets closed at that time? Has anyone done theater on New Year's Eve?
